NAK and MC are totallly different style of HU. If someone like NAK they will never like the MC. anyway NAK is more fathful and dynamic while MC is more lively but the hit is not as punchy as nak. vocal on MC is more transperance while nak is more meathy. Which ever the better will depend on the style of music you listen to. buy the one you like and it will be the best for you. no one care if you use a bloody old gears or the ugly one. after all it is the SQ that count. a 15 years old sony HU still work as fine since day one when it sit in my dad car until he throw it in the garage. and a boy pick it up from the garage floor and use it at CAASQ comp. after all it is the ability of installer to use what you got efficiently.

You are kind of like asking whether Merc or BMW is better. They are all different and you can only pick the right one by listening to both.

But if you get the mx406 and your car have a 2 din slot, grab the meter as well. Look soooo nice.

If I were to pick one of the two, I will pick the CD700 II. The reason is that I like meathy saxophone and vocal which is the charactor of cd 700II (but not the original cd700). both are just as good but they have some charactor different. as I said before, which one you choose will greatly depend on what sound noce to you. CD 700II might be a big waste of money if you don't like its distinct charactor. when you are talking about hi-end, all units are make to the very high standard. all unit in the range are just as good there is a definite answer to which one is better. So what you like most is the best

Same here, if it was my choice I would take the CD700.
But if I had to choose between the CD700 and the MX4000 + MDA4000 I would take the McIntosh combo.
PS if you want a McIntosh 1 din power meter I could be tempted to sell mine.

man i'll take the mac any day. sure, it may be a 9255, but thats no bad thing...
my personal opinions of the cd700 were that it sounded a little sterile and while yes, it was "meaty", it wasn't my cup of tea. i haven't heard the II, but it'd have to be a HUUUUGE improvement to better a 406/9255 imo...
and yeah, gooki, i'd love a mac 4000 transport/dac combo.... *licks lips*
