hi guys, i've got a question here.

which one would gives better in bass (in term of sq) to power a 12" L7 dual 2 ohm with xfire bmf 1000 d @ 1ohm or audison lrx 2.500 @ 4 ohm?

i mean with xfire bmf 1000d @ 1 ohm you will get 1000 watts rms and with audison lrx 2.500 @ 4 ohm you only will get about 660 watts rms.

this 12" L7 ideally would handle 750 watts rms and planning to build it in about 2 cubic feet sealed box.

many people said for sq, it would be better to run subs @ 4 ohm so the bass would be more accurate but in the other hand some people also said if sub not being powered enough it also would gives a bad and not accurate bass.

i'm thinking of changing my xfire bmf 1000d to audison lrx 2.500 to run my 12" L7.

does anyone know anything about the lrx 2.500 to run sub?

would the lrx gives more accurate bass than the xfire 1000 d or not?

i would really appriciate for your help here guys

cheers,

dave

The Audison... increasing the impedance the amplifier sees reduces the power output but increases the amplifiers ability to control the cone smile.gif Having said that, i think the weak link for SQ will be the sub anyway, so i wouldnt stress about it smile.gif

As per above, I wouldn't be worried about your current amp situation. The box and installation will play a bigger role in how it sounds than whether you use a quality class D or class A/B amp.

so what u're saying here is doesn't matter to run it with which amplifier but the sub itself need to be changed true?

okay... i'm also thinking to change the sub to a ID MAX 12".

say if i would change the sub to ID MAX 12", would I be better to get dual 2 or dual 4?

as far as I know ID MAX 12" would ideally handle 1000 watts rms.

than in this case what's the best amplifier to use?

would it still the same answer as before --> doesn't matter which amplifier to use?

thanks for the suggestions anyway smile.gif

The impedance you run the amp at can make a TINY difference to the way it sounds, but only like 1-2% or so of the overall, things like which sub you use, how you build your box, and so forth, will have far, far more effect and you are better off researching those smile.gif Any amp >500w will probably do the job just fine smile.gif

The IDMAX's are great subs, for the price they go for in Aus i fully recommend em, drop past FHRX's site as they have them on special at a great price smile.gif

i'm not such a big fan of Class D amps for sub bass, especially when you're pushing the limits of the amp.

might be great for SPL, but not as good for SQ IMO.
i'd go for the Audison option in this case!
why not use a Lrx1.400 @ 1 ohm?
@nThOnY
Do you really need to run it at 1 ohm? I had an identical crossfire in my system before and ran it at different impedance to see how it sound. I first tried to run both subs at 1 ohm and it sounded very loud and imprecise. Then tried to run a sub at 2ohm, not as loud but becoming a little more accurate. At last, ran it at 4 ohm, definitely more accurate once again, but cannot drive it as loud as I like.

I have also tried using an xtant x604 (AB) and a tube drver blue 2150 (AB) to drive my subs too. They both sounded a whole lot more precise and controlled than the crossfire but I was really suprised by the performance of the tube driver. A lot of people "said" the tube driver is definitely not for subs but I have to diasagree with them after I wired it up bridged, 8 ohm to provide about 300wrms to my sub. Sooo nice. Even my current Xtant x1001 4 ohm, 500wrms is no match in terms of SQ.

Anyway, I think it is a good idea to upgrade the crossfire amp to a better monoblock or a class ab amp. Are you Daniel's firend, BTW?

to mr bob: considered using the lrx 1.400 and run it @ 1ohm i would prefer the bmf 1000d since it also run @ 1ohm and give u more power which should gives better handling to the sub.

to anthony: yeah i'm daniel's friend smile.gif

because my budget is honestly quite stretch out at the moment so i might only be able to stick with my bmf 1000 d or maybe buy a 2nd hand lrx 2.500 and run it @ 4ohm at this time being.

so do u think the audison lrx 2.500 will be better in this case rather than using bmf 1000 d?
gooki
Why not complete the install with the BMF 1000D, then rock on up to your local Audison dealer, tell them you are interested in the LRX2.500 and see if they will let you test it out in your install prior to purchase.
l3v4d
that's a good idea!
because one of my friend has a lrx 2.500 so i don't really have to come to an audison dealer...

yeah then i'll probably do that, i'll install everything then trying with the lrx 2.500 see how it goes

thx for the suggestion anyway smile.gif
