hi
if anyone has used or owned the alpine pxa-h700 or h701 i would really like to talk to them.
i was looking at interfacing the pxa-h701 with my alpine cda-7998r and using the toslink optical cable, plus hook up the ai-net cable so that the 7998 would be able to control the 701 like a master volume control. IS THIS POSSIBLE???
Now it also seems like the rux-c701 is required with the unit to set eq, x-over and time alignment, so it seems like i have to also purchase the handset. IS THIS TRUE???
Is it possible to setup the pxa-h701 in 4 way x-over mode. Does this give you lowpass sub, bandpass midbass, bandpass mid, and high pass tweeter & are the x-over choices only 6, 12,18 and 24??
i have downloaded the pdf file on the pxa-h701 and it seems like all this can be done. However i can not be sure unless i can play with the unit in a store (which isnt possible) and also talk to someone whom has actually owned one of these processors.
I have emailed alpine with these questions however i have not received an answer..oh well i think im better off speaking to people whom have used this product
any help would be greatly appreciated
cheers jonathon

yes you can use toslink for signal path and ai-net for volume/fade/sub levels.
i'm tol dthat the RUX isn't erquired for teh 7998, but i haven't tried it myself.
crossover choices are: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30db/oct
the outputs are labelled:
sub
center (can be de-activated to give stereo bass)
front 1
front 2
rear
i'm using front 1 for ambients and front 2 as my main front stage.
later i'll use rear for midbass front 2 for midrange and tweeters and front 1 for ambient.
the only annoying thing, is that you don't get seperate EQ control between F1 and F2, they both work off the same EQ settings.
if you make your way to traralgon i'll show you...
or Audioquest, he has one too!
otherwise, contact JohnA from ACAP, he's got one and lives on the northern edge of melbourne
thanks for your help
adam from stylyn audio here in melbourne has ordered one for me
i think ill get it thursday with the handset
i hope it looks nice
