hi i bought some hertz woofers for cheap recently, the "HV165" as used in hertz HSK165. i'm going to use them to replace my factory 1-way front speakers (just a paper woofer) but i'm thinking i'd like to add tweeters too.

i was thinkin about adding a tweeter with a first or second-order tweeter, and just leave the woofer highpassed off the amp at about 120hz. if i bought a jaycar tweeter or a cheap vifa tweeter off ebay. would i notice the diff ?

summary:
2x75wrms (highpass at 120hz) --> hertz hv165 woofer + cheap vifa tweeter (tweeter highpassed again )

my theory is that the woofer won't really perform at all at over 10,000 hz so i might just add a tweeter along with it ...

or should i just leave it run the woofer from 120-20,0000 ?
Maz
Did you buy those HV165's off ebay?

If you want the cheap option, run the woofers full range and use th jaycar $10 tweeters that come with an inbuilt crossover cap. They are highpassed at 5000hz at 6db, and the roll off of the woofer will be to about 5000hz too, so will blend nicely.

maz, wicked thanks ! will the difference be noticeable ? one cap is first order = 6db eh ?
