Full Version: Centre Speaker in a VT.. Is it possible/worth it?

Before people start jumping down my throat saying "Do a search", I have. Found nothing substantial.
I am throwing around ideas for my car here as everybody on this site does.
Now has ANYBODY messed around with a centre speaker on a VT Commodore? Is it worth doing? If it is worth it, can it be done? Is it just "sex appeal" to an SQ install? Or is it only to enhance your vocals if your front stage ain't up to scratch?

These are honest question so some helpful and polite advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to sound like a b***h, but when you're about to work from 10:30pm til 2:00am on a sunday night and then have 4 hours of sleep to go to your full time job... you'd sound like this too sad.gif

A centre speaker cant work for stereo music, it will destroy the imaging and stage width UNLESS you are play a 5.1 recording.

Think about it the signal has 2 channels, if u start having the right and left channel both coming from the centre, you stage width will be destroyed, as well as having all the instruments spaced across the dash.

A few people have used them but they were purely for movie 5.1, and not music.

Someone SQ guy on here used a centre speaker, cyberpunky maybe? and it detracted from the sound stage.

T-Bro used to have a 5.1 setup using some Clarion HU (dont know the model)

and High-IQ has 7.1 but he is using a Audigy biggrin.gif

relly not worth it unless you want a 5.1 system but eh..

you wouldent really use it for most music and only for movies.. but thats what having a house is for
