ok so im looking at a pair of Alpine Type R 6.5 Splits or the Dynaudio 240GT splits.
now in comparison to sq i would like to know peoples opinions about each speaker as to which one you would prefer and why, and i do realise every1 is different.
thx

At the end of the day dude... it's your ears that matter.
I can say the Dyns are crazy for SQ and somebody else might say the Tye R's are value for dollar with SQ.
I would personally choice the Dynaudios over the Type R's but they are deep suckers to play with in doors. Be prepared to pod em well

I think almost everyone is going to go for the Dyns, but at the end of the day, as tiger said your all that matters
Anyway, theyre in completely different price leagues so why compare them? IIRC Dyns RRP is $999, whereas the Type R 6.5 RRP is $499

agree with both tiger_vts & fuknutz2k.
why don't you listen to them both and let your ears tell you which are truely an SQ speaker.
even some i know in the field of mention admitted that the type r are just a doof doof speaker nothing special about them, but doof doof sells

who cares what actually sounds nice...

i've just heard this phass M series (RRP $750) in my free car, and it sound awesome, better than my dyn actualy, dude if you don't have expensive amp with big power don't buy dyn it wasted, i used dyn once, only using alpine mrv-t420 (profesionaly tuned) the sound not even half my fre car that using phass.
and for the type-R, i think the type-s sound better, the type-r just to sharp for me
btw comparing dyn and type-r is so unfair

PersonallY I run Dyns and love them. in my opinion, they sound to me, very natural. Now having said that Im sure there are plenty who love the alpines too. Safest bet is to get a listen and let your ears decide.
There is no right or wrong here and its all just opinion, so trust your ears and form your own opinion as you will be listening to em for a long time

Straight answer from my ears mate: The Dyns are definately in a different league. If u have a decent amount of power (ie > 100rms) you will love them.
Just as an aside: Cyberpunky, how would u rate the Dyns against Elates?

Dynaudio walk all over Alpine, even on Sundays.
No really, like the other guys have said, your comparing two different class splits. Listen to them both first, then decide.

If you want raw bass that will wake up your neighbors.. go the Type Rs.
You want balance and clarity... go the Dynaudios. More natural sound as opposed to the Alpines.
This is if your ears don't wanna pick it out for you

Save up and buy right the first time... Don't do my trick and buy/sell 4 systems before either of them are installed!!!

the GT version have 6.5" woofer the MK2 have 7" woofer, people mostly have mounting problem with the MK2 system cos the woofer is 7"

The GT has a pressed steel basket and MKII has a cast aluminium basket. I have not heard any difference though.
My dyns is the only part in my system that have remain, whilst headunits, amps, install and crossovers have all been changed/upgraded. I will definitely save up for the dyns if I were you.

Mounting problems with the Dyns only arise because the basket is a little more wide and flat than a conventional speaker. All that really means is that you will either need a larger diametre speaker hole in the car itself or you will have to use spacers with the larger diametre hole. Start saving!

COMPARE APPLES WITH APPLE AND ORANGES WITH ORANGES
but if you comparing apples with apples and oranges with oranges on teh basis of their price you are really comparing apples with bananna's and bananna's with apples.
ie. just because something is a certain price doesnt mean there arent a few bad apples per se in that price league.
