atm Im auditioning speakers (as Im wanting to upgrade my current setup) and have heard pioneers, fusion, kicker and clarion top end stuff. Out of this lot the SS56.2 I thought was awesome. Although I was recommended to get the SSMB8 with them as they dont like mid bass much.

Whats other peoples impressions on these speakers? and also what other speakers should I be checking out? budget is no more than $1000 and Im after SQ.

I have a decent but a bit old now kenwood head unit (used to be top of the range) so I think my source unit is good enough for the moment.

Cheers,
Luke

Hamburger & cow dude.

The more channels you split the signal up into, and the more speakers you attempt to reproduce the entire audible bandwidth with, the more difficult it gets to achieve a linear result. Also, three way front stage set up cause all kinds of arrival time difference between each speaker in the system - worsening matters. Stick with a simple 2-way from stage, as well $1000 there are dozens of high end 2-way splits using a 6.5-inch and tweeter that will serve you well and be easy to install.

Just remeber, turning a cow into a hamburger is easy, but turning a hamburger back into a cow? That's much harder to do.

hmmm cow and hamburger... english?

I'll be running (if I get them or what eva speakers I get) from my 4 channel amp (4*100 RMS) as my head unit has 3 pre outs but I wont be using the rear pre out as I dont see the need to amplify my rear fill.

I was looking at Mr Bob's setup last night and this is pretty much exactly the same thing I would do (using different speakers though), using the SS56.2 in the kick panels and SSMB8 in the doors, but ur saying this would be crap? So Im better off with a nice 2 way 6.5" in the doors (or just the kickers for that matter)?

Thanks,
Luke

Okay, hambuergur & cow explained in simple english.

The more parts you chop the music signal up into the more difficult it becomes to put them back together again so that they resemble the original construction.

This thread has a similiar discussion. My friend and I were both messing around with our front stages. My mate wanted to to push it too the extreme. My setup up worked in the end though.

Hope this helps...

dont worry about ronald mcdonald or hamburgler

if you love midbass (and its the most fun part of the music spectrum) then use the 8inch midbass driver and the small midrange unit ss56.2 15.4cms wide (which seems to be a 6inch)

the simple fact is that clean, very loud ,effortless, fun midbass only comes from separate midbass drivers.

if you want to just use a mid and tweeter then just go the bigger midrange driver ss65.2 16.5cms.

give me more midbass...give em an 8inch in the door

Personally I wouldn't reccomend those speakers at all, have you heard the speakers at all? They need an 8 inch midbass to be able to keep up with the average set of 6 inch splits.

I'm sure you will be able to find something on the market that will be a much better option.

If you want a "beefy" (sorry I couldn't help myself! tongue.gif) front stage have a look at the Rainbow Powerline splits or maybe Dynaudio System 220s and the 8 inch mids to go with them.

There are lots of options out there, make sure you have a GOOD look arround at the different options available to you.

cappish... hahaha

yeah thats what I thought u were getting at but wasnt totally sure...

the reason to use the 8" is because ss56.2 struggle with the mid bass...

yeah I have heard them, and I thought they sounded great, but I was only comparing them to pioneers, fusion, clairon and out of there I gotta say they were heaps better.

The gold coast sucks as far as being able to listen to good speakers, to my knowleged that is. I intend heading up to moorooka to listen to there stuff up there, but that'll be in 2 weeks or so as I have to go up there for uni reasons...

gold coast has no places to audition speakers? try mackay dude. aint **** up here. the rockford punch series splits of like $450 have great midbass, so i would imagine the power splits would be better.
