Hey guys, just wondering what would be the best SQ subs for about $300 or less ? (each)
I like JL subs because I use to have a pair of W3's altho I didnt think they were to good with SQ, I was thinking maybe a pair of the W3v2's ? or maybe a single W6v2 ?

I listen to mostly R&B / Rap

Cheers...

what amp you gonna run is also the question?

how do you determine the good amp 4 an sq sub?
any particular brand?

HIGH damping factor (the ability to control the cone movement i.e. start and stop)
THD, HAS to be LOW! make sure that it's THD is low even when bridged.

reputation really, STAY AWAY from cheap SH!T amps biggrin.gif

DLS MW612 or Image dynamic IDQ12 for the $$$ U got
SILVR6
i am awaiting delievery of my JL 12W3v2 its been about 3 weeks now dealer said that his JL dealer doesn't have any and they had to get more in, but i have heard they are very good subs, not sure about W6 but id say with the right power you should get some good sound.

jaycars 2x150rms amp is popular because of price although they may not be your best choice if your planning on some competitions, i would say spend $600 on 1 sub, as you hear around the forums alot that 1 good sub is better then 2 average ones.

(not saying w3v2's are average smile.gif )

Try Kicker Comp. Nice, tight bass, although they don't look too appealling biggrin.gif

CompVR... give it SQ with BALLS! tongue.gif

Or you could go an Alpine Type R (second hand of course)
OEG50
nah you can pick up type r 12's for bout 300 now. i'd go one of those or 2 even. if not the idq 12 would be my next visit.

THD is always low thesedays... tenfold lower than distortion of the loudspeakers.

Damping factor >30 makes no difference ,the speaker cable bumps it down anyway.Theres no AES file saying'higher D/factor = better sound.

The sound quality of an amplifier could be affected by its PS and its general topology,id avoid class a/b or class d/t at all costs and go for class A for non bass app.

I think the definition of 'SQ" really is becoming over/miss used.

I'm guessing by "SQ" you mean good sounding? Who doesn't want a system that sounds good? smile.gif

R&B / Rap like most commercial music isn't really composed, mixed or recorded with any special attention, unlike say "audiophile" recordings.

No mainstream recorded music will be overly taxing on 99% of the subs out there. Have a listen to a few woofers and buy something that you like!

Thanks guys, I ended up forking out the money and got a IDMAX12...
Tiger
That ain't cheap... but NICE CHOICE :thumb: you won't be disappointed, and the second you are... there are roughly 3,000 CAA members that would bid for it, I'm sure! tongue.gif
