Im just interested, which of the two would you choose to power a JL 12W7 on a sealed enclosure given that you are after pure SQ.
Would you go for the:
a) Audison VRx1.500.EX.2
B) Tru Tech Hammer H-1
and why? or do you think theres a better SQ amp for subs out there?
(Kindly take note that im more after the SQ it will bring to the sub. also this will only be used in a single 12" sub and WONT power multiple subs. im also NOT interested if it can do 1ohm or less, all im after is the SQ part)
(oh, does anyone know the diff between the audison 1.500 / 1.500.1 / 1.500.2 as well as the Tru H-1 and the H-1 j.fairchild edition)

IMO its up to you as to which one looks and fits better in your install
They are both top quality amps that you will not be disappointed with. Im sure someone will come up with some jargon stating why one is better than the other, but you will be happy with either

Tru Tech for sure, If you are only runnning a Sub. This TT amp is design for Super control of the cone with those high damping factor.

whats the damping factor of the audison by the way?

Both are quite in-efficient, despite their claims.
Six batteries weren't enough to keep a Sledge Hammer happy. The Hammer is half of that.
The 500.1 gets very hot at 1 ohm.
Both are great amps, but have their negatives.
I'd lean towards a high-end "SQ" D class, more bang for your buck and a lot less strain on your electrical system.

i'd like to reiterate again from my original post this excerp:
"Kindly take note that im more after the SQ it will bring to the sub. also this will only be used in a single 12" sub and WONT power multiple subs. im also NOT interested if it can do 1ohm or less, all im after is the SQ part"
so phil, im really not interested in their efficiency not their ability to run at 1 ohm. thanks for the reply anyway.

mate
i think phil was just trying to point out that both of the amps suggested will draw a lot of current when compared to a d-class amp, and that you will need to ensure your electrical system (battery(ies), alternator, wiring etc.) is up to scratch.

yup i know stooge and i thank him for that. i'd just want to put the thread back to track on what my original goal is. lest the discussion might turn to a discussion about the amp's efficiency/inefficiency, which is not what i want.....
cheers =)

i've used both amps.
the Tru is my pick, as it makes more power (on a bench, 2000WRMS Vs 2700WRMS) and suits my install better, it also runs cooler at 1ohm.
however, the audison would suit some installs much better, and has more options (differnet crossovers, the bass extension modules etc) and is a fair bit smaller.
To be honest, i can't pick the difference in sound, they're both very high quality class a/b amps.
go for the one which you prefer the look of, unless price is an influencing factor.
i've previously used a high quality class d amp, and it didn't sound the same either of these amps, the bass was not as controlled.

this has been discussed before.
i believe it's now made in the USA, however early models were made in Korea.
some parts are boviously outsourced, i believe this includes the circuitboards, which
may still be made in Korea.
joms, if i recall, you're an ECA member?
this has been discussed there a few times, do a good search, or ask

at the end of the day, it sounds incredible, looks great, and is reliable, so i couldn't care less if it's made in the USA, Korea, Taiwan or Pluto.
it's an awesome amp regardless.

It is assembled in the US, ie actually thrown together and tested.
The aluminium comes from the Philippines (I believe)
The TO3 cases are from Mexico.
The circuit boards and everything else I'm not sure, theres too many parts to an amp

i run my image dynamics IDMAX from an audison VRx1.500.1 at 2ohm. sounds awesome for SQ, and can certainly go loudly too.
i've recently heard an RE XXX sub run off the hammer: ditto!
for normal listening volumes, and say at 2ohm, i can't see how anyone would hear a difference.
i think the VRx looks elegant and classy. the hammer looks tough! i love them both.

You could have a steam train
If youd just lay down your tracks
You could have an aeroplane flying
If you bring your blue sky back
All you do is call me
Ill be anything you need
You could have a big dipper
Going up and down, all around the bends
You could have a bumper car, bumping
This amusement never ends
I want to be your thread-miner
Why dont you call my name
Oh let me be your thread-miner
This will be my testimony
Show me round your fruitcage
cos I will be your honey bee
Open up your fruitcage
Where the fruit is as sweet as can be
I want to be your thread-miner
Why dont you call my name
Youd better call the thread-miner
Put your mind at rest
Im going to be-the thread-miner
This can be my testimony
Im your thread-miner
Let there be no doubt about it
Thread thread thread-miner
Ive kicked the habit
Shed my skin
This is the new stuff
I go dancing in, we go dancing in
Oh wont you show for me
And I will show for you
Show for me, I will show for you
Yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I do mean you
Only you
Youve been coming through
Going to build that power
Build, build up that power, hey
Ive been feeding the rhythm
Ive been feeding the rhythm
Going to feel that power, build in you
Come on, come on, help me do
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you
Ive been feeding the rhythm
Ive been feeding the rhythm
Its what were doing, doing
All day and night
