Gordo!
G'Day,

I have two Vibe Blackair 15" subs ready to be boxed. Now I'm looking to start maknig a box soon so I thought I'd better find out what's a good size...

I have at my disposal a little bit more than 500 litres of box space to play with and I plan to use as much of it as possible. This system is goin to be music only so it can't be peaky and sound like ass.

Looking at WinISD, 400L tuned to about 25Hz looks pretty flat but that doesn't factor in cabin gain extra. But I suppose having it a little louder in the lower end could be EQ's out.

But I'm looking to utilise as much space as possible so I'm thinking 500L tuned to 24ish Hz. My main worry then becomes Group Delay. I don't want it to sound too sloppy. There will be around 2000W on tap to be put to good use so hopefully that will help a bit.

What are your thoughts?

Cheers
Gordo!

It will sound sloppy if you dont EQ the too loud low end. Consider 6db/octave addition below 80hz.
400litres is huge, once that is braced and built with 18mm MDF will you be able to lift it? For hiphop if your hitting 32hz youl get the full potential of tunes like 'getlow'

Bear in mind that this low low tuning of 24hz you suggest will decrease SPL overall due to running out of excursion in the midbass where the port isnt working.

id consider a response abit more overdamped and rolled off to integrate with cabin gain. Probably by keeping a low tune but reducing box volume slightly.

What are the drivers Xmax?
