Hi all,

Looking to replace the Focal Polyglass 6.5" woofers I'm using in my front stage at the moment.

I want something with some real kick and punch! I listen to quite a lot of hardcore (of the punk breed, not the trance stuff) and metal, with lots of tight and fast kick drumming.

The speakers will be in the front doors of an old Supra, partnered with a pair of Morel MT23 tweeters running active through a Audiocontrol DXS crossover, and with a A/D/S 312rs 12" sub to bring up the bottom end.

Probably will be receiving about 100 to 150W RMS per woofer.

Don't want to spend a huge amount... but bring on the suggestions!

well good on ya... speakers mounted in doors sound like speakers mounted in doors...

Nah, I wish... but 8"ers won't fit without some very extensive modding (which i'm not really willing to do).

Of course they're going to sound like speakers in doors. I'm not expecting it to sound like a live performance in my car. Speakers sound different to other speakers, even when they're in the same enclosure with the same amount of power behind them. I'm after peoples opinions on which would best suit my needs. Please, if you don't have anything constructive to add, stay out of my thread.

Not always.

One of my dealers got 131.3dB (TermLab) at 69Hz from a single door mounted pair of 6.5 midwoofers.

That's more output than the four 10" woofers in his VT!

Morel to match the tweeters? Dynaudio? DD? Any of these "new to Australia" brands.. Phass, Eton, etc?

Yea, you can get them as a set, DDW6.5set - RRP $599.

Comes with 2 x DDW6.5 Midrange/bass woofers, 2 x DDT1 tweeters (which I got told are Vifa, anyone know for sure, Phil?) and 2 x XO1 Corssovers.

with enough power the dyn mid/midbass would be a very very good option

even the 5inch is incredible
