Can anybody tell me about this brand for their subs?
...are they american?
how do they go SQ-wise?
where do they 'fit on' (roughly) on the scale of subs?
cheers!

SS have been in the game for a long time and have developed an excellent reputation, particularly with subs. they are a US company, so US-designed; much of the gear is built in asia though, but that's no biggie, the quality is still there and at better prices.

do you have a particular model sub in mind? the have quite a large range. in general, their products have the quality of mid to high-end gear, so very good.

SQ is not only dependent on the sub, but also the subbox. design and build that well, and the SQ will be great.

Shiny is correct majority of the gear is outsourd these days to Asia, but we still carry a large range of subs which are still made in the old factory in California.

For example:

Soundstream Exact - Handcrafted in the USA and its one of the best SQ/SPL subs Soundstream ever designed. I havent seen or heard this sub sound bad in any application ported or sealed.

Soundstream SPL - The old school Soundstream SPL subs. They are back this year still Handcrafted in the USA.

SPLX - New school SPL sub awesome motor structure and high arc surround to allow for more cone area. Handcrafted in the USA

XXX - what more can i say 8500RMS and 20000 burst power handling. These things are built like brick ****houses, i strugled to pick one up. Handcrafted in the USA

Also the rest of the range TARANTULA and VAN GOGH, the mainstream market is getting the ones that are made in ASIA, all the ones i have here are from Soundstream in USA. They only make a few and outsource the rest if a huge order comes thru.

One of the more reliable names in car audio, from experience.
Have been running a single T4-15 in a compact, hatchback and consider it one of the tightest responses I've heard.
Major problems with Soundstream result from lack of power, not from the opposite.
