Hey guys,
My mate has a PG X200.2 and he is looking to sell it for a very reasonable price. Now i was looking at an Audison Lrx2.500 which i would rather have (as i already own a Lrx1.400 and want to keep the cosmetic look), but if there isnt much of a difference in SQ then the cosmetics can take a back seat, and i will be saving some good $$$ so that is always a bonus.
The amp i decide on will be in my system for a long time so i'll want something that will be reliable and wont want to get rid of.
So anyone had experience with either or both? I doubt there will be an audible difference, but then why is the PG amp alot more expensive?

i personally love a consistent 'look' in the boot, so strongly prefer matching amps. biggrin.gif

both amps are no doubt great, and i think you'd be very happy with either. i perceive both to be aiming at the same level/quality: good mid-spec amps. as a user of audison VRx/SRx and PG tantrum (preceded the xenon series) i think the PG amps a totally bullet-proof and tough as nails. this could reflect their prices, not sure; or it may reflect where they're designed/made and import duties, etc, and audison dropped their prices last year i think.

i would personally go the LRx in your situation for my very first reason above. tongue.gif

see personly i would stick clear of the lrx, after my experiances (and from a few other owners) with them i dont find them reliable at all......
the Xenon is a beutiful amp and is well built.
but then again most ppl want matching amps.

The thing with the LRx is to have each amps ground cable seperate and very close to the amp.

Do NOT have them running into a distro block as the amp with the shortest ground cable will be the donor ground for the one that has the longer ground cable.

From memory it's not current protected so I wouldn't run the system without the car running either.

hmm thanks fellas, given me something to think about.
as far as matching i could sell my 1.400 and get a X1200.1...

thanks again smile.gif

that sounds like a big hassle and loss of $$, but if you're prepared to do it, do it. cos i prefer the build/toughness of the xenon's over the LRx.

then again, unless you're flogging the LRx amps and you install them well, they'll be perfectly good and offer top SQ.

love the look of the brushed stainless on the Xenons tongue.gif
ps. PM me if you wanna offload your LRx smile.gif

still a bit to think about, we will see what happens

I have experience with the Xenon amps and they are great for SQ very very clean amps with good power. They have very nice crossovers and are overbuilt internally so expect them to be very reliable.

How does this fit in with the running of a cable from the Neg. Battery post to the boot, for a common earth point?

Would it still be OK to connect both Amp earths to this point?
