G'day first topic should have it in the right place and I searched but couldn't find anything on the Tru Technology T-6.500v2. I am trying to work out just which amp(s) I should run to get the best out of the audio gear I will be purchasing from Pyroay shortly; Pioneer DEH-P88R and DEQ9200 DSP with Focal Utopia 3 way front stage. Looking at adding a RE XXX or IDMAX 12".

Now I have an idea and would like to know if it's any good me being a car audio novice. Get a T-6.500v2, bridge it, run the Focals at 200W passive with the sub at 300W then when funds are available get a dedicated amp for the sub (Hammer? suggestions?) and run the Focals active off the T-6.500v2's 6 channels (each side 75W, 75W, 100W).

This idea any good? Other suggestions for amp(s)? Cost is not really that much of a concern as I am willing to sacrifice time for higher quality.

All this going in a R33 GTS-T

Firstly, are T-6.500v2's still available? I'm not sure so you may have to check with your local Tru dealer.

Sounds like a great idea to me!
Just make sure you get a dual 2 ohm sub smile.gif

Did you just said "price doesn't matter. Milbert is the best amp ever produced. If 4K for a 2 channels amp is still in your budget. 3 of them for the split and a tru-tech SH1 for the sub. So say 15K for amps. But is critter an official dealer for milberet in OZ?

Checking on availability, are there similar amps or comparable combinations in the same kind of bracket?

OK let's say I want to keep the cost of the amps alone (!) under the value of the car tongue.gif And just how would I fit enough batteries in a Skyline coupe to run a SH1? lol

Just be aware that Class-D amplifier can screw with the Hicas 4WS system. In my GTR I installed an Alpine MRD-M300 under the Hicas computer and every now and then during bass hits the rear of the car would twitch!

I'm not kidding!

Soundstream Human Reign?

Zapco Comp?

T03-4.150: theres one for sale in the forum at the moment.
Add a T03-2.250 when you want a seperate subamp, or another T03-4.150 if you want to go active.

Or go the T-4.100/T-2.200 route with the v2 range

Nice idea, with 2 T03-4.150s could run active with ambients as well with a monoblock on the sub :thumb:

i think nowadays alot of amps makes good clean power....but the difference is the characterics. Some amps sounds better with a particular kind of speakers than others. Forcal r very detail though especially in the top end..u will want an amp which not be overly bright espeiclaly when pushed hard as it makes it hard to listen to on the focals when the volumes is cranked up. i suggest Zapco Comp series though....its makes good stable power at any votage and doesnt no ever shut down. some amps i have used r macintosh, Bulter blue, audison vrx, PG, class A soundstream etc2. i like zapco best..its like macintosh but it make a lot more power.

What do you mean by 'overly bright'?

the Tru T03 series would be very nice, having heard a few high-end systems using these. very well built and look the goods.

i personally run audison VRx amps, and these may suit your needs. wide range of models available including 6-channel, various 2-channel and a nice monobloc.

Thanks Shiny. From everything I have heard audison make very nice amps but I really just don't like the look of them.

Opinions on the Soundstream Tarantula amps for this application?
shiny_car
SS are yum. i would expect any previous quality control issues from recent years have been irradicated, but this could be a minor issue (buy new = warranty). i would still prefer a Tru setup to those though; they are just so industrial strength in build quality and look sweet without too much bling (eg: tarantula = bright chrome).

I do like the Tru Tech stuff muchly, why I was looking at the T-6.500v2 in the first place smile.gif
SILVR6
tarantula amps look mad, the chrome with the spider on is excellent:)

plenty of bling, but also reliable
STIK79
too bad the spider is actually plastic wink.gif
micha3l
If you like the "Blingyness" of SS amps, maybe something like Xtant amps would suit, very well suited for SQ applications with a chrome finish
Fairmont99
Thanks everyone, this has been very helpful smile.gif

Hopefully the beginnings of my install will be in the progress section next month with a complete list of gear I actually decide on biggrin.gif
