hi, my fre got this problem of deciding which HU he's gonna buy, which one do u guys thinks is better? cos the RRP is similar. and for the look he doesn't care. but the most important is, which one have better SQ? thanks

i heard the NAKs are unreliable and they obviously got NO FEATURES but i like their design (extremely 'factory' lookin) i think the CD400 has 4v preout while the eclipse is 8 or 9 volt ..

what else .. guys ?

I have owned both unit before. My current one is 8454. great unit. CD 400 sound a bit flat while 8454 sounded more invloving. 8454 sound a bit more grainy than CD 400. If the price is similar 8454 is my pick because the features. it also can play MP3 and it has memorystick to store songs

What you've heard is irrelevant.

I've used a CD700 (currently) and I've had no problems with it.

CD 700 isn't cd 400, there are a lot of different between the cheapo and the hi-end one. anyway NAK is no longer as good as it used to be when it come to a bit cheaper than the flagchip product. If you are not going to buy CD 700 or TP 1200 them stay away from Nak

why do u say that? i used to own a 45z and i would say nak mid level stuff sounds at least as good as other Japanese brand decks.

I've got a 3year old CD400...sounds fanatastic!smile.gif...heats up quite a bit if your going to use the internal amp(but you can also turn this off)

skips when I drive over bumps though...which isn't so good for the car environment
but I still love the SQ coming out of the thing...

Naka CD400 is probably one of the best HU for under $1000
In fact..I have seen 2nd hand ones for only $500+ which is crazy for such an excellent HU

The sound it delivers is very musical and I'm satisfied with the money I've spent!
