I'm shopping around for a new system and this is what i've come up with. What are peoples opinions anything you'd swap for something else?
HU Pioneer 8650mp $739
Front Diamond Audio HEX 6.0 $949
Front amp Audison Lrx 500.2 - 200rms per side $800
Sub Lotus 12" 2 0hm not sure of model # but cost $499 i think
Sub amp Audison Lrx 400.1 rated 650rms at 2 ohm $900
Havent decided whether to get rear fill yet not sure about the lotus sub either. i'll probably invest in the optional clk2 cooling jit for the amps as well.
probably be going into a new barina or similar small car.
Any suggestions for anything different preferably around simlilar value.

wow, well i guess i should first say that is a very nice planned system. i'm not sure if i would change anything, have u listened to all the components? (splits, sub) because they would probably be the only things i *might* change, but it all comes down to personal preference, i would probably go for boston or eton splits, and perhaps a dd sub. although i have heard from people that the HEX splits are very nice.
dynaudio system240gt, eton adventure, focal utopia 165w, morel elate, phass t650 would be some of the splits i would make sure i listened to before buying.
other that, sounds like a VERY nice system indeed. just dont stinge on the install.

splits and sub were about the only 2 i was worried about as i havent heard them only going of what i've read or specs i've seen, and i'll be going stinger cabling, and install will be done by a CAM member or another shop i have my eye on.

Listen to the splits/subs for sure man. If you're going to spend that much money you better pick something that you like.
Install I guess will cost quite a bit. You need sound deadening etc.. and you might as well do it well since everything else looks top notch.
I particularly like the Audison amps. They are popular among the SQ boys and they look like absolute CLASS.
Oh, and it's great to see more SQ boys around. There's not many nowadays due to the SPL comps taking over!

I'd put about 2,000 into the budget for the instal if you are going to get it done professionally, and this includes all sound deadening and battery, cabling terminals etc. Make sure you take the time and care to find someone decent and your system will shine.

$2000 for an install? are you insane?
I think that it's only warranted spending that much on an install if you're going to have a show car. Otherwise, $500-$1000 seems reasonable.
Or, be like everyone else here and do it yourself! =)

I wouldn't pay that much for the headunit or the diamonds. They're both good but i'd expect to be paying 20% less than the prices you listed.

The prices are just basic listed retail prices, i intend on doing some bargaining before handing over my money though i am surprised about the HU costing to much They were listed at $1400 and came down to $800 odd so i thought $730 was a pretty good price though id still bargain it. As for the install the plan is for an install that looks as close to factory as possible, no point attracting unwanted attention of the thieving type. My only reasons for the pro install is simply because i want it to sound as good as it can, so better to have some1 who has a better understanding of speaker placements etc... then myself

Depends on how much money you have and if you think its warranted.
If you do it yourself, it will take time BUT it will be a lot cheaper. And speaker placement, well basically you just put your midbass in the doors and the tweeters in the kick panels. You angle the midbass and tweeters to the opposite headrest and you're set. Plus, if you do it yourself you can fiddle around to make your system to YOUR liking.

but then some people (like myself) simply dont feel confident enough to be pulling their cars apart and running the wiring. at least with a (good) professional, u can be gauranteed that the job is done safely and there wont be any marks or scratches on the cars interior. plus u get a lifetime warranty on the installation. and if u have the extra money to spare, why not get it done by a pro?
as for the 8650, it might have been $1400 when released, but it is close to, if not more than, a year old now, and can easily be had for around $850 at stores like JB.
i would go around some stores, or even email some stores and ask them what their current prices are for the parts ur looking at. that way, u can know how much of a bargain ur really getting. basically, i would aim for at least 10-15% off the current going price of all components IF you buy them all from the same place, or if u buy some from the same place that does the install.

im not worried about wiring im pretty confident with that (thinks about the F***** mess current car is as havent bothered to hide any wiring its going everywhere except the driver floor surprising im not picking up any ground noise etc... very surprising, its only an old s***box charade thats my excuse anyway) its only the building of custom door pods, as i dont want to muffle the speakers by placing them behind standard door trims, and a custom sub box to get the best out of the sub/possible subs

i would agree on the box being made pro as i know most joints nut it out well an use a qualified cabinet maker, plus if u dont know what ur doin u could discount the sub an hide its true potential, but sound deadening it seems pretty straight froward, theres even a walk through on caa, i would give it a go myself, but if u got the cash... y not!?

I used to own the Hex splits, they were brilliant. Loved them. I was choosing between Dyn's and Alpine type X. I went with the Hex having not heard them, and was not dissapointed! More lively than the Dyns, and held power well.

Well i think i might be sold on the hex's now i have to decide on the sub might look at the Treo trx 12" just read the reveiw in ICE magazine they seem very impressed with it! i dont really know much about the Lotus subs!

Have you checked out Alpine's head unit and their new amps.
You might be able to get the 9851 for about that price.
Alpine MRV - F545 125wrms *4 (i have seen a birth sheet of 141wrms *4) ~rrp$899
Alpine MRD - M605 600wrms *1 ~rrp$799-899
Correct me if i am wrong with the alpine prices.
As for the sub, maybe something in like the IDQ 12.

Not a big alpine fan, I have 2 friends with alpine monoblock amps that are constantly clipping and going into protection in not what you'd call high stressed setups. I can get a alpine 9855 for about another 150 but found the glide touch just damn annoying to use. I like buttons. Buttons are my friends does it get more easier and reliable. But the ID subs are definitely an option.
