Hi Guys,
I need a new system for my Toyota Sourer (amps)
Currently I have:
HU: Alpine 9835
Fronts: Boston Pro60's
Front Ambients: Boston Neo-M (will only use if I cant sell them)
Rear: Hertz Hi-NRG Co-axils
Sub: ID MAX (yet to purchase)
now all I need is amps to run them, Im planning on running the rears off the HU and the rest of some decent amps,
what would you suggest budget is around $1.5-$2K if this is possible
after SQ

my favourites would probably stretch the budget closer to $2K:
*digital designs: C4 + M1
*JL audio 300/4 + 500/1
*phoenix gold X100.2 + X600.1
*boston acoustics GT-22 + GT-28
mmm, some nice amps there. if you'd like the amp the rears, then the JL or DD combo would be ideal. or else bridge the 4-channel amps to 2 channels just for the front splits. not sure what i'd personally pick - too hard. maybe the PG duo.
i know you're a zapco fan, but i have little knowledge of them.

im currently running my Boston Pro 60's active on a JL 300/4 and find that they could do with more power, mayb i should run them bridge and passive so they'll get just over 150wrms a side,
how much diffrence would there be goin from active to using the provided x-overs?

the JL "slash series" amps are underated in terms of power YES/NO

i've not heard that the JL amps are underrated to any huge degree, so i would expect power to be close enough to 75WRMS per channel and maybe 10~20% more.
the boston pro's come with good passive xovers so there would be much merit in running things 'passively' and bridging the amp.

i may get a second 300/4 and run my mids active but bridge them on one 300/4 so theyl be gettin 150wrms aside and then run the ambients and main tweeters active but not bridged so they'll be gettin 75wrms, that shouldnt b a prob right?

Our new 2005 models land any day now, all with even more power and lower prices.
The C4 delivers 2x140Wrms for front and 2x70Wrms for rear at just $779
Our M1 pumps out 1300Wrms (1 ohm 1%THD) for $949

perhaps a tru tech t2.100 (under-rated in power) or zapco 750 (but these are massive in size though), then the sub amp the ones shiny car already has mentioned or a zapco 500m

how much are the Tru Tech T2.100

Tru Tech amps imo will offer you high quality power but not a huge amount of it

I would look at something more 'mainstream' such as Boston, PG or even DD to give you more power whilst still retaining a high quality
The secret of balancing amps is getting the power as high as you can without making the amps the weakest 'quality' link in your system.

a tru tech t2.100 rrp is 978....but don't know if that has changed with the distributor now, the tru tech not offering alot of power?!? it maybe stated to be 100rms at 4ohms but an individual review tested it and the power was actually 172rms at 4 ohms...if you want the article pm me
so im not sure about you Blaqjaq but 172rms sounds like a fair bit of power for some boston pros to me

I think im gonna keep my current JL 300/4 from my silvia buy a second one and get a JL Audio 1000/1 to run my ID MAX

)
so the set up will be
JL Audio 300/4 running Boston Pro60's active (Mid-ranger) 150wrms
JL Audio 300/4 running Boston Pro60 active (tweeters and ambients) 75wrms
JL Audio 1000/1 running IDMAX 12"
I cant see a prob with that, is that okay?
now who wants to buy a JL Audio 250/1 ??????

you only live once =), plus im gonna keep this gear as long as it lives, im content with the way my system is, my other option was gettin the JL 500/1 but the last thing i wanna do is buy the amp and underpower my sub, and think back in my mind to upgrade it later down the track so I think it will be worth the extra $$$.... plus i can get JL at fantastic price @ my local car audio shop
now I just gotta find the right sourer, and then for the install

I think thats a bit harsh! Lol anyway I would probably look at the M1, I've heard good things about it.
