What an awesome event!

A little disappointing to have many judges not able to make it due to personal and work obligations, but we worked with the best we had available to us.

This was by far the best finals event to date, and with some unexpected results, but also some well worthy champions being crowned, fantastic weather and a great social atmosphere, what more could we ask for.

I was very proud to award the Ainslee Duff Memorial Award (Spirit, Passion, Life) to Rick Formosa of NSW for his awesome dedication this year, both at events and also on the forums. Congratulations Rick.

Also a special mention to The Smith's, proud parents of Adam who we tragically lost earlier this year. We were all proud to have you there, and Brian your knowledge is increasing daily, and there is no one in this organisation who isn't willing to lend you a hand when you need it. Adam would be proud to see his car at finals this weekend, and even prouder to know his parent's are competing there fairly and squarely against all the other competitors.

Unreal to see Ange DiDonato of dB Drag Racing to become the Australian Champion with an awesome old school system, and to become a champ again so many years after your experience with Sound Quality competition. We hope to see you at more events and getting more involved in SQ.

Congratulations to Alan Sierra for continuing your very high standard of SQ and proving once again just how great your car sounds against some of the best in the country.

Big props to Andrea also, our own female competitor at finals (and most of this year) for sticking it to the boys and becoming Australian Champion in Amateur Show this year. Good luck in 2008 as you move up to the Pro Classes.

Dan, Blanket, Kirk, Rob, Bruce - thanks so much guys for making this event a success. It ran without a hitch from the organisation of the event, during the day and right through to the presentations.

It was great to see a huge turnout from NSW - a state which now really does have a great following for SQ competition. We do realise that not all of you share the opinions of some of the competitor base, and those that spoke to us after the event, we look forward to helping you further your knowledge and conducting a training day with VIC to help out in the very near future.

To the QLD'ers that made the massive trek down, thankyou. It's great to see you representing and I can honestly say everyone of you are very enjoyable to chat with, we all had a great time.

It was great to finally be able to put a face to some of the non-NSW forum names, and also great to be able to spend a weekend with the NSW boys, and get go hang out with everyone and know everyong on a more friend-like basis. Many interesting things went on between this group.... lol

Now, onto the congratulations, and thanks:

* Alan (Sierra) for being a great bloke, and for having a truly great sounding stereo. There is no doubt in my mind that you well and truly lived up to the reputation, and the win was well deserved.

* Aother great bloke (Pulse-R) for giving me the opportunity to have a listen to his car.

* Antony, Jono, Rick and Daniel for showing consistent results throughout the state series, and for fighting throught he difficult times to and lifting the game further again for the nationals.

* To Daniel for coming up with the ideas of the NSW shirts - there was nothing like cruising the streets of wagga in a 15 car blue-shirt convoy: definately a moment to remember.

* To Marty, for taking CAASQ NSW awa from extinction, and turning it ino the thriving event it was this year. I think I speak for all of the NSW crew when I say that the efforts and sacrifices are greatly appreciated by all.

* To the DbDrag guys for putting on a hell of a show, and setting so many new records

* To the judges and event organisers for making everything possible, and for making such a complicated even run smoothly

Sadly I won't be competing in CAASQ in 2008 due to major uni commitments, but Iyou NSW boys have my support if you need it. I'll always be a P.M. away for anyone who nees a little advice or a tuning hand.

It was great to be able to meet (and compete against) some of the best SQ systems in the country, and I was trilled to rank as well as I did amoungst such distinguised company - given the state of the car on the day, I expected nothing more then last place.

T'was a much needed holiday away from the stress of every day life, and already a pity to be back here again.

Amen. I was smashed like never before and I was still freezing my bottom off.
Gordo!
Huge thank you to EVERYONE who put the time and effort into making this event happen! Once again I had a blast as a spectating Canadian and I'm looking forward to doing it all again next year, in Byron. blum.gif

I'm extremely pissed off at the behaviour of some of the people attending though..... Riley, Calan, Luke, Ash, Jake.... Bloody pikers! I had to do all the drinking and boogeying for Queensland. Hard work that. Oh and iTim for sleeping in and not bringing poker on the Saturday. And Bobby_Optical for ragging on my shirt, bitch tongue.gif

Thanks again to all the people I met and talked to, it was a pleasure. Big ups to Bruce for not actually bringing that Wagga slut home, it was a closer call than I think any of us realise.

One final note, never ever again will I attempt to drive a road/race car 2600 kilometres on bumpy roads. I did make it home but only just. Time for a major service smile.gif

just because you wanted the wagga skanks!

When we rocked up at the meet and i saw your car, i was quite suprised you were doing the trip in it tongue.gif. nice car but defenatly not a long trip car tongue.gif. i think the great success of the weekend was doing 30 hours of straight driving without any speeding fines!. the whole way there and back we only saw 3 cop cars. and 2 of them were just driving around in town

sounds like everyone had a blast

love to come up and join the fun next year smile.gif

well done to everyone whom made this day possible. To make a day like this possible takes a huge amount of time and effort.

It really is a thankless job to organise and judge @ CAASQ but everyone involved definitely deserves the upmost respect and thanks

well done to the CAASQ
Damo95
what a weekend!!!

congrats to all the winners, and to andrea for beating me at finals..
some stiff competition existed between us 2.. was was good fun nonetheless..

good to put a face to the name of most of the NSW competitors, and those who trecked the long drive down from QLD..

Gordo! - your a madman for driving that thing down.. but was good meeting you (and buying Knu Koncepts gear)

Nathan (MRVJ) - was good meeting, and chatting with you.. pity we didnt get more time, but was good the times we spoke.. thanks also for your thoughts on my system.. its comments from others like yourself who drive me to do well, and enjoy what i have..

Thanks go out to the judges for judging under the circumstances (and 17 am street cars!) and the hot weather (but cold beers?)... its you guys who make the comps what they are, as much as the competitors whom you judge..

I'd like to expand on marc and say that it was awesome to see the 'nemesis' there at finals this time.. yes, it made it there and home with no problems whatsoever.. im sure adam would have been proud of both Brian and Lyn for getting the car there when he didnt quite make it 2 years ago.. was a pleasure to cruise up and back with the amazing car in tow.. it was a moving weekend for me too, with thoughts popping into my head from time to time, as wagga 2007 had meaning..

I'd also like to thank the sponsors, db drag and the organisers for such a good event.. and its good to see some stiff competition between the states altho mostly dominated by VIC & NSW.. and 3 people for equal 2nd in am street.. thats just close!!

BRING ON 2008!!

oh.. and the pics.. i'll sort thru my ~300 that i took over the course of the weekend and filter/host for your enjoyment..
that also includes the PDM at "THE" pub.. wink.gif

Indeed it was great to see Ange win. I had the pleasure of driving his car each way up there.

I reckon a little more coaxing and he will do some more SQ work to it. He actually discovered on the Thursday night before the event, that he had blown 1 part of the centre channel system and to still take the win was a fantastic achievement
Fudd
well i had an awesome weekend away

huge thanks go to Kirk for drivin my bum up there, putting up with my drunkin shenanigans and having a laugh with me.

Massive thanks to Rushton! you know why.

Congrats to Allan, your turning into a idol now! your car just gets better and better.

congrats to Andrea for showin the guys how its done

and congrats to everyone that won and competed and had a ball!

oh and Congrats to Mad89 for winning the Ainslee Duff award, it's well deserved!
mad89
So tired from a fantastic weekend away! Luckily i didnt have Uni today so could sleep in tongue.gif laugh.gif

First of all, Congratulations to Alan/Sierra for backing up for a second year in a row to take out the Amateur Street title. After regretting for 1 whole year that i didnt listen to his car at Finals last year, i finally got the pleasure, and wasnt disappointed. Top effort mate, good luck in Pro next year! good.gif

Secondly, Congratulations to my good mate Jono/Poisoner. Top effort in your debut year, to manage to nab a trophy at every round that you competed in. Now we have both accomplished a Runner Up/2nd at Nationals in our debut years, myself last year, and you this year. Believe me when i say no one knows the feeling better than us, of doing the whole install and tune yourself, and still beating some of the best shop built cars from all over the country. A well deserved NSW State champ, and 2nd place at Nationals. Top stuff mate.

Congrats must also go out to Antony/Antony tongue.gif and Adam/Spyne for the equal 2nds in Amateur Street. To Antony, for spending countless hours to get that install done in time, and Spyne for a great sounding car, not only for SQ competition, but its a great system to just sit in and enjoy with any music aswell. I know how disappointed you must feel to lose on countback tongue.gif Jono did it to me twice in the NSW season. laugh.gif Amateur Street just keeps getting closer and closer. It should be quite interesting in 2008.

Congratulations to all Winners and Runner Up's from all other classes.

I must also extend a thank you to everyone that was willing to let me listen to their cars at some point in time over the weekend. Every car had its own unique qualities, which made it an enjoyable audition day as well as a close competition.

Thank you also for the Ainslee Duff Memorial Award. It is an honour to hold it and have my name listed there along side Alan's (so far) and the many more to come. Dont worry Marc, i know how much it means to you, it will be kept safe and proudly displayed with the rest of my trophies.

Thank you to all behind the scenes who organised Finals, and also to the Judges.

Lastly, i would also like to Congratulate all of the NSW competitors for a great performance at Finals. In Amateur Street, 6 in the top 10, and 3 in the top 5. Top effort. good.gif Congratulations to Edwin for the 2nd in Pro Show.

I would also like to take this opportunity to quickly sum up the NSW season and extend a massive Thank You to:

Marty and co - for getting NSW season up and running this year, organising everything behind the scenes and ensuring all the rounds were run smoothly.

All NSW Judges - we had a few different judges this year, all of which did a great job giving up their time to judge the cars on both scorching hot days, and freezing cold/wet/rainy days. All your efforts are greatly appreciated. Without you, the NSW cars wouldnt be where they are today.

Dorans and Autobarn - for hosting a few of the events and letting us run the SQ side in conjunction with the SPL. It was good to get out and mingle with some of the SPL boys, and also mix up the locations so we werent driving to the same place all the time. Thanks to Autobarn for hosting the last event. It was a great day, and im sure we were all fed well with the free Maccas.

Thanks to everyone from all over the country for making it such an enjoyable and awesome weekend away. drinks.gif What happens in Wagga, stays in Wagga, eh Mark/Wh33lzz? laugh.gif

Everyone else who i may have forgotten - Thank you! All your efforts are greatly appreciated!

smile.gif

Cheers

What a fun weekend, once again another good event held by you guys, good work on everyone who competed, it's a pity some stupid people slept through the entire event *whistles aimlessly*
Anyways, had a fun couple of nights, good to catch up with everyone and who knows, perhaps next year i'll even compete, or at the very least turn up to the show, hehe smile.gif

Was an awesome weekend!

Huge thanks to Marc and Dan for organising another excellent event (and a whole year of CAASQ).

Congrats to all competitors, there were definately some awesome sounding systems from all states there smile.gif

Will see you all in '08, and hopefully beat you all smile.gif

cut n paste from other wagga thread...

Well inspite of the last 24 hours putting a dampner on things, I had had an awesome weekend. Matt and Jacob you guys rock, and thanks for sharing the room, couldnt been with a better cpl of blokes. Was also great to catch up with all the caa crew and meet some great new ppl too.

Thanks to Simon for giving me one of the best compliments on my system, after he had had a good listen *your car has more niceness than mine* lol I'm still not sure what these new fangled technical terms mean lol but was great to hear.

To Brian and Lynn making the trip up was huge and awesome to have you guys there. Alan, as always, modest and genuine, you are a worthy winner, although I had no idea of who won till it was announced on sat nite, as it was just that close. To all the guys, that Blanket and I judged in am street. well done. The class was sensational and 90%+ of the cars were at an extremely high level, so you should all be proud.

To Blanket, thanks for being my cruise control and judging with me, was great working with you.

Ness and all the girls, helping out in the background, well done, it may go mostly unnoticed but it is greatly appreciated.

Congrats to Ange winning and helping me represent, old skool style. your car is awesome dude

Well done Damo for taking pics and proving it actually happened for prosperitys sake

To all the competitors, thanks for travelling all that way and keeping Caasq or whatever its going to be called next year alive and well, as thats what its all about.

Special thanks to Micks bakery for the award winning service tongue.gif

anyway thanks to all and Im sorry if I have left anyone out...oh hang on lol THANKS Marc well done mate.
as always you got the whole thing running like clockwork

That so called boogeying in the night club is why we all left you there by yourself, Imbarrasment to QLD lucky you had a "I LOVE NY" shirt on.

As for all the skanks i still reckon we should have put the Dubbo skank in the back of the swift and dropped her back off on the way home...

Anyways big shout out to Marc and Dan for a great event after that experience i'd say all 6 of us QLDers will be back nect yr.

Had a huge weekend! Was one of the highlights of the year as usual....

Plenty of good laughs, heaps of cool people, great times all round.

Thanks as always to the sponsors, the Admin, the judges, the competitors and the spectators! For both the awesome year that it was and the flawless finals event that turned out.

Andrea is stoked with her win, just goes to show that award winning stereos don't need to cost the world (And yes, girls can kick ass too!). Congrats to all the other winners, place holders and entrants - its a big commitments even to attend finals so everyone deserves a clap.

Oh, and thanks to all the crew that partied hard both nights - Pics to be posted up soon by Jess!

well i have to say i had one of the best weekends i've had in a long while. having gone well all year in NSW and to have the judges and others who listened to my car, agree that it really does sound good and my 2nd place reflects that.
i'm very happy. rocker.gif

I certainly was a little worried about my car on the trip there, i took it easy most of the time. the car has done 20,000kays in 4 years and has never done more than 200km in a day. to do 900 in a weekend i was stoked for it not to have any problems other than drinking 20-22L per 100km.

240dollars for 98octane. sad.gif definitely putting cruise control and A/C in the next car. and have more than 3 gears. yahoo.gif

To the NSW crew. for the whole season. to Marty for getting it all organized and getting NSW back onto its feet and stronger than ever. to the judges on the day and through the year(in NSW) my score was very similar to that which i got throughout the season. clapping.gif

To Rick, My rival throughout the year. despite not performing to the judges tastes early on u caught up and overtook me in the end(Rnd 7). ur car sounds great and i have enjoyed the installing/tuning on both our cars and value ur input. the bitching and yelling has its purpose as well:good:To have received the Ainslee Duff Memorial award is a tribute to you mate. u attended every round and you weren't scared to get ur hands Dirty. u helped with last minute installs and tunes, even the odd bit of advice, didn't got astray for many. Congrats

For those who introduced themselves on the day(or the night before) Cheers. i wish there were more hours in the day. to have had longer conversations. i was not feeling the best all weekend as i have been fighting a chest infection for the past 2 weeks. but i feel i stood up ok. would have been louder and drunker if i was healthy.

To those whose cars i listened to. it was a pleasure and an eye(ear) opener to experience a greater range of systems in a bunch of different cars. i have gained knowledge that i will use next season.

To who ever invented Jager Bombs. many were consumed and it made the nights that much more exciting.

To the Vic Judges and Organizers of the event. thanks for putting on a national event, i know allot goes into it. and i enjoy going to any car/car audio event.

to those who listened to my car hope u gained something from it. whether that be pure enjoyment or as a reference to ur own systems. i also took note of any feed back u might have given me which will help me in the future.

even tho i do not get my score sheet back... getting the score for an area(Accuracy and Clarity, i think?) what this has given me is proof that i have an ear for tuning. which makes me very happy(and smug) but it also means i lost out by 1(to Antony/Antony) and 3(to Adam/Spyne) in Image & Staging. so it gives me something to work on next year. that is to say assuming i didn't loose any points in safety (I'm pretty sure i didn't)

What a fantastic weekend!!!

Congratulations and a big thank you to everyone involved in making this weekend possible.
To the organisers Marc & Dan .... to the judges Kirk, Rob, Blanky & Bruce .... to Ness and the girls for the admin side of things .... and finally to all the competitors from all states that travel such a long way to get to Wagga .... a big thank you to all smile.gif

To say I'm happy to have won Am Street would be a bit of an understatement .... especialy given the quality of the competition in this class now .... there sure are some great sounding systems out there .... so it's a real honour to end up with the win.

I had a great time listening to as many of the interstate cars that I could .... but time got away and I didn't get a chance to listen to everyones unfortunately.
It was also cool to demo my system to eveyone that wanted to have a listen .... just as well I've got that Optima battery installed now tongue.gif

A big thank you to Damo, CAASQ's resident "official" photographer for taking pictures all weekend .... you're a legend mate smile.gif

Special congratulations to Rick (mad_89) on receiving The Ainslee Duff memorial award .... very well deserved mate .... your enthusiasm and passion is an inspiration to us all.

It was also great to be able to finally catch up with and chat to the NSW & QLD boys and put a face to the forum names laugh.gif

Nathan .... sorry that you weren't able to bring your car to Wagga due to that last minute transmission failure .... I know that you were so looking forward to competing. Oh ..... and thanks for the Rammstein CD .... I'll have a good listen to it tomorrow wink.gif

Gordo .... you're a nutter for driving a tightly sprung turbo racecar on a 3000 + Km round trip .... gutsy effort mate tongue.gif

Was great to get to know Brian & Lyn a bit better .... who would have thought that Brian and my wife Shari also share similar hobbies.

A great end to a great year!

I vote finals got for a week next year. And that they take place in the carpark of the Ettamogah Pub - or atleast a pub some where with a beer garden.

I vote that the prick who turned my fridge off on sunday morning be killed - I ended up with melted icecreams!

I vote that next year we actually dont compete and instead we just piss on for a week instead

All in all I had a ball once again - cant wait till next year - wagga finals seems to renew my passion for CAASQ
