What does the season cost or each event. Is it worth entering?
Sierra
Dec 23 2007, 12:20 PM
I would say yes it is worth entering

It's a fun day where you get to meet other people that share a common interest in car audio.
Is also a good opportunity to have a listen to other peoples audio systems and if you like also get advice on ways to possibly improve your own system.
Last year cost per round was $30 .... this year is yet to be known.
Why not come along to the next social event or the next Test 'n Tune day and say hi

This isnt really related to the 2008 season well i guess it is, but my system at the moment is less than average being 18 and paying off my car haha, is there really much point in me competing at the moment. I mean i really want to have a go, but to me theres not much point if it sounds like crap
Pulse-R
Dec 29 2007, 10:53 AM
no point, other than some good advice (from someone who can hear your system) to where improvements can be made -
i.e. not all improvements in a system require money to fix.

i am in the same position as you are.its going to be my first comp and i have nothing in my car atm but,if funds allow me i should have a head unit and some speakers in the car.if not ill just enter in a stock car
but the real reason ill be going is so i can get advice and tips from the guys in what i should be looking for when i am buying my gear.and have a chat should be good fun.

Come along and enter anyway .... no one is going to make fun of your system

Whats the worst that can happen? .... You make some new friends that enjoy car audio like you .... and you pick up some tips on how to improve your setup

For all those new guys thinking about competing - I highly recommend it! I seriously dont know of a single person that is going to give you crap for not having a hugely expensive system or anything like that. I started with a basic system, and built from there, as did most of us!

Come along, meet up with us, listen to some cars, and generally have a great car audio day!
Dyno_Phoenix
Jan 4 2008, 11:30 AM
Well i guess thats a better reason than any to drive a few hours to meet you guys. So how does the novice comp work i was reading that it said if you come 3rd or better you move on to the next stage of competition? is that right or not
Timm3h
Jan 4 2008, 12:28 PM
it means that if you acheive 3rd or higher in a comp, you need to move up to (at least) intermediate class. So if you compete in Novice, and get 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, then you have to move up. The judging criteria is the same in Novice as the other classes, so you're not going to be at a real disadvantage if you can place in novice. You may be at a slight disadvantage because of experience, but there is only one way to overcome that
Dyno_Phoenix
Jan 4 2008, 12:34 PM
haha just a question, i think ill probably be in novice class for a while, which is completely fine with me

So away from the whoring commodores, how many cars will be expected at the first vic comp?
~Spyne~
Jan 5 2008, 09:51 PM
depends on weather and date.
generally comps at phatt are very good, and last season (one of vic's best sq seasons in a while) we saw around
10 competitors in each of the street classes, and 3-5 in each of the show classes. so 20-30 cars, not including spl cars (when events were joint sq/spl events)
