Hello everybody

I have a 2004 Subaru Forester. The cd stacker/radio unit does not have aux-in nor a tape deck and I want to be able to play portable audio devices through the radio, so I have chosen to install a wired Clarion FM200 Modulator. I have experienced static problems with using an iriver H300. Please note; all those people thinking at this point I should just replace the car unit with one with aux-in, please stop reading, I'm not interested in that option. For those that have installed and had success with FM modulators please read on-I'm hoping you can help.

Ok, the problem in some more detail;
With the FM200 turned on, and nothing plugged into the RCA jacks, there is very little static even at full volume. All good. Then when I plug my Iriver in there is static, this is background static that occurs either when playing MP3's, or when the MP3 is paused, or when no songs are currently playing. The static is whenever the iriver is connected regardless of what the MP3 is doing. I then try various other devices, a creative MP3 player, a laptop, an old walkman and all of these produce no static at all when connected to the FM200. So I think, oh sh!t my Iriver is a dud.

but this is the weird frustrating bit I don't understand.

When I listen to my Iriver through earphones, no static. When I plug my iriver into my home sound system via aux-in, no static.

So it doesn't seem to the FM200 thats at fault nor the iriver, but some incompatability problem between iriver and FM200.

Can anyone please shed any light as to the reasons of this and any possible solutions.

Thankyou so much
Regards

Thats very strange, mabey its the jack input that your using with the wired clarion fm modulator dosnt get along with the input of the iriver? Sounds weird but defintally has hapend to me befoure with my home setup and an ipod, but it dosnt make sense if everything else works fine on both iriver and the modular.

I guess its just one of them annnoying things, mabey also try for a replacment modulator, that is if you brought it new. Ethire way it shouldnt do what its doing. Hope you get it figured out
