Hi everyone,
I'm after a place where i may be able to get my 9887 Alpine headunit calibrated with the KTX-100EQ in Melbourne?
I know I can buy it, or even off eBay, but I hear that you don't need to keep calibrating it, so I would rather find somewhere i can get it done.

maybe try the retailer you bought the HU from. if you have a good rapport with them, they will probably help you out.
HOWEVER, it's obviously not in a retailer's interests to offer such a service when instead there is the opportunity to sell the package to you. so you may not find such a favour.
still, hit up as many alpine dealers as you can, and one may oblige.

a store here offered to do it for me but they wanted $200, stuff that you can buy the unit for a little bit more

IMO, $200 would be a fair price for a store to do it (maybe a little on the high side). As you have to factor in the time they take to do it (40min or so), any adjustments to gains etc + plus the use of the kit/laptop...

Exactly, as you upgrade, or change positioning, you will need to use it again.
This unit really does do a great job, the better the components used with it, the better the result. It LOVES high end gear!!
