Hi, how is ya's?

I'm a noob to carputers...basically i know how to work a computer just unsure about all the bits that go in them...so will be looking at buying a set up already built (there's no way i would buy the parts and install myself) basically been looking around the net for dealers who sell carpc's. There's a couple in aust but unsure of quailty...I found this one in america...

any thoughts on quality of the carpc's eg..it has a complete unit with 1.33GHz intel
celeron with all the other bits in it...for $374 (US $)  does something like that look ok and worth the price...

I'll prob get a motorised touch screen but unsure what brand there, i've heard good and bad about the lilliput, and the xenarc are meant tp be pretty good but pricey...so will keep thinking about that...

or does someone have a better idea...

Cant find the exact pc there that your talking about but they seem pretty good. Youd have to also find a supply that would ship over here, a few people dont like shipping there stuff O.S. Altough if you would like to try an aussie supplyer try
www.vmscarpc.com.au

I got a 1.2 mini itx with a 150 psu, external slimline dvd, case all for 300. Been working for a few months now and havnt had a problem, runs everything fine.

Now with the screen, i have the eby model (lilliput) and it works like a charm, got it really cheap from ebay.com, xenarc are very good quality screens but all in all the decision is up to you, ethire for cost or quality. Hope this helped out a little bit.

P.s this site isnt that much good for a resource any more check mp3car.com and youll find alot of info!

I have a lilliput (Nevision) 7in vga touch screen (and TV tuner) in my car and would NOT recommend it to anyone. The 12vdc power source doesnt have sufficient filtering, the screen reflects everything and all the connectors are in the wrong place to make for neat terminations and/or flush mounting. I will be looking for an 8in screen shortly and one with a high contrast suited to in-direct light. The specific names escape me but the screens also have an additional layer of material, as well as the high contrast, to stop the reflections. I was also disappointed with the lilliput as when owners complained to the factory about the power supply they blamed the users when in fact the testing i did proved it was the product..hope this helps..cheers Fossil
