Has anybody any experience with these rca cables ?

I have replaced my previous standard low range rca cables - Monitor - by Monster Interconnects serie 402 + 402 XLN subwoofer Extrem.

I use a F1 Status, full active system with Audison VRX, Brax 2400.2 G.E, RF and ODR speakers.

I heard an important change. The sound is more detailed, open, clear, but too bright. Bass are more solid, tight. No the install sounds too cold, percussive, is agressive and this for all speakers, not only those feeded by Brax.

Even my system is analytical and dry oriented, previously it sounded slightly more mellow and smoother even with Brax amp.

Could it be that the 402 serie reinforces the harshness ?

What do you suggest in terms of RCA cables ?

Many thanks in advance for your inputs.

i doubt anyone here will have the answer for you, due to no-one performing the exact same changes.

having said that, i personally don't put much value on RCA cables. whilst i think it has merits in audiophile home audio, i don't think the benefits are there in car audio. that is, i can't hear the difference between a 'good' quality cable and a different 'good' quality cable.

i'm not suggesting you can't hear a difference yourself, but there are also people who will suggest you have suffered a placebo effect: hearing things that aren't there, but 'thinking' you can because you've made a change.

in my previous setup, i used series 1 alpine F#1 + series 1 VRx + dynaudio/morel supremo. coupled with Stinger Bullet series RCAs, i had no complaints, and will reuse these components in my current car.

so why did you make the change anyway? if it's not to your liking, perhaps change back or try something else. or maybe use your original cables for your tweeter channels.

Many thanks for your reply. I don't think I have suffered a placebo effect since a friend of mine spontaneously has heard the same difference.

After checking with my installer, it seems he has made a mistake..., feeding the special sub interconnect to the midrange amplifier. Maybe this could explain the problem. In fact, the Monster 402 sub Interconnect have been engineered specifically for frequencies below 80 hz...I don't know which influence this bad installation could produce in terms of sound of the midranges .Have you any idea ?

i've no idea. sad.gif

you're pushing the envelope really. smile.gif whilst there's a few genuine nutter audiophiles around here, they don't visit too often, so experience is probably limited.

you may receive better feedback on home audio forums. if you can hear a difference in the car - due solely to cable changes, and not mix-ups! - then perhaps discuss it in the domain of home audio nutters who have probably used such cables or have a better opinion.

good luck. smile.gif
