Hey guys...

I have done a bit of a search with no real luck.

I have recently installed a factory alarm/central locking kit on a 2002 Accent hatch, very happy with it but the chirp for the door lock/unlock is far too loud. It wakes up the neighbours and more importantly me when the missus comes home late! Its handy having a chirp so we dont want to silence it but would like to quiet it down..

Any suggestions or ideas? I have already tried shoving a sock in it sad.gif Is it as simple as a resistor or something? I realise the alarm wont be as effective if i quieten it but who wants to steal a hyundai?

Thanks!

How did you go yup...?

Im pretty sure will just need to throw a resistor in somewhere in the voltage supply wire(s) to the siren. I just have no idea what size/type??
yup...
Theres no way from factory to do it, i.e switch or setting, but i guess a resistor would work, i dunno what kind either

If you replace your siren with a dei unit, they have a soft chirp setting. still gives full noise alarm but chirps are heaps quiter. Im sure other brands would have this feature too but I know DEI definatly does

My girlfriends accent was the same, I went for the easiest option i could think of and just covered the horn with wide electrical tape. Poked a few holes for good measure and now its the perfect volume!
