I have a Porsche Boxster and I am wondering how I am going to get a subwoofer setup. Front boot is not an option because the SW will have to fire through the fuel tank. Rear boot is not an option because the engine is between the boot and the passenger cell. Having a look at
this install in a Lotus Elise gave me an idea - why not put a subwoofer in the passenger footwell like in that install?
Have any of you tried this?
I'm not out to win any SPL competitions - I just want a small touch of bass to round out my system.

I'd opt for 8 inch subs in either side kick pannels for stero upfront bass. If you don't think 8's will go loud, look at clarkies thread in the SPL forum 139db from one 8inch in a little box, in a waggon.

in my fathers old mondial 3.2 we had it where jas was talking about, that is where most of the mid/rear engine cars put there big speakers, i think my dads mate has a boxster witha 10" there? i will have to check this up

ok here are some pics of a very very nice install
maybe you should consider that one? would cost a bit though due to the custom FB fabrication and the subs may be abit too close for my liking,
here is the full install

About 5 years ago I put a Alpine ZR10 into a footwell enclosure in a Boxster, worked a treat, and only took about 3 hours start to finish.

Wow, very nice installs on both those Porsches!
I don't think I would want anything similar because they stick out like the dogs balls. A major part of my install is subtlety. I don't want people to know that i've got a super-expensive stereo in my car. Install something like that and anybody who looks in will see it.
I think i'll probably go for the footwell option.

Clarion have new sub/amp combined retails for $399. it looks like an amp but has a 7 or 8 inch sub built in, by all reports good for tight punchy bass but nit much else. in the U.S people are bolting these under the front seats of SUVS - perfect for the porsche but not monster SPL

I don't want to give anyone a reason to break into my car. Simple as that. I do not plan to enter the car in any shows or competitions so the most important aspect of my install is quality and invisibility.

With Blanketman's help I fitted a PG Xmax 8 behind the seat in a 911. we had to make it mostly FG. It was covered in porsche carpet and so dissappeared from veiw, espesh at night, which was vital as the car was a soft top. I can understand you wanting to go stealth as it just makes sense. I am not familiar with the boxter so am not sure where you could fit a sub but Im sure it could be done with a little thought

I don't know the make-up of Boxters, but if you have space under the seats and stealth is must, perhaps a bass engine might be worth considering? If you have a good front stage it will give you that extra bit of bass (Well, bass fell). Taking up a small amount of space, easily installed and hidden?
Just a thought.
