I got pulled over, first night i had my car, and they said to go get it checked out, the exhaust.

so i did, the limit here is 90Db, my caris 95Db, and i love the sound it makes, so i dont wanna loose it, does anyone know a way to silence it for 5 Db while he does the check? ive been told chicken wire might do it, but it could shoot out aswel..

this is serious, im prepared to make a forged document to say its 90Db if i cant find a way to get around it..

That's pretty extreme of you to want to break the law further just for a small infringement like that.... Even if you do drop to the legal limit for this check, when you're pulled over next and tested then you'll get hit again. I doubt dropping to the legal limit will really be that bad, but then again I don't have anything to really base this on.

5db isnt that much mate, It shouldnt change the sound that much.

Epa notice is easy to pass, theres a few ways includind stuffing it with steel wool and chicken wire to hold it in (did this in the old days) , separating the exhaust at a flange and blocking that flange off half way with steel plate ( dont rev card hard when this is done) right back to actually replacing or adding 1 muffler just for the test.

But dude if your car is a 4 cyl or 6cyl and sounds like a bucket of crap do yourself a favour and get a reasonable system put on.....dont think loud means its good...it sometimes just means its loud.

Just to add with the above post, You can actually lower performance if the exhaust isn't right. Just because its all noise doesnt mean more power.

i changed my first resonator to a triflow item which i supposed to kill flow but it queitened mine down heaps with out too much of a change in power. more bottom end less top = overall same for a daily driver.

It just got the sweetest sound atm, its a nice loud exhaust, with blow off valve sound when gears change..

Does it have a BOV? I wouldn't have thought that it would be a good thing having that sound without one, might mean theres something wrong? I don't know a heap about car technical stuff, but usually when theres a sound being made the same as you would get by installing an aftermarket product, to me that doesn't seem good at all.

Honestly, if you want a turbo and everything else, whilst on your P's save and save some more, so you can get it done properly. So instead of wasting money on crap you are saving to buy something you actually want and not something that makes you look stupid
