I was going to get a Soundstream T5 but got told there crap and to go for a Clarion PXW1552 instead. So i was just wondering were is the cheapest place to get these subs in VIC? And any other thoughts on this purchase is fine.
Also would a 15" be to slow for metal and techno etc i listen to alot of different Genres of music will a 12" be better?

Seeing as your posting in the Spl section im guessing your after something loud or are you more after quality?
Dont limit yourself to that one woofer as there are plenty out there. What is your price range, do you already have an amp and what car is it going into?

The Soundstream T5 will run runs around the Clarion woofer. Whoever told you they are crap has probably never even heard one.
Don't even bother with the Clarion.

Good to see you're looking at 15's - like they say - there's no replacement for displacement.

Noting wrong with a 15. And no they're not to slow - it's prety damn hard to make a sub that's so bad it slows down and thus alters the frequiencey being played.
However how good you sub intergrates will be greatly dependant on you fron midbass drivers being able to keep up. Having a big gap in volume between subbass and midbass can sound ass.
If the price was the same and those were my only two options I'd take the soundstream sub. There's a significant lack of info on the Clarion.

Thanks No there not my only options any other for my price range is fine aslong as there not hard to find

. $1000 for sub and amp i plan to get a second sub of the same later on unless the bass is good enough but i always have an urge for more bass soon after i upgrade

Is that the same for you guys always wanting more bass after upgrading not long ago?

If that's how it is, save a bit more and get 'higher' quality gear. ~$1k subamp for about 1krms (or strapped jaycars, 1800@2ohm) and 'better' subs. It's pointless (and a waste of money) to upgrade rubbish with rubbish. Don't get me wrong, the SS might be a great sub, but there may be others out there better then it around a similar price (could be wrong here though). But why not save a bit more and get some gear that will last you a bit longer

$1000 = DDC2a + DD1515 (and change

)
Bridge C2a to run woofer for around 600rms.

Try and stretch that budget a little further and snap up one of the several DD 15"s going for sale

Would this amp be good for 2000 rms? Just as a cheap alternative to run 2 good subs but then later on pay bigger dollars on an AMP.

No that amp is a piece of sh*t, is says it will give you 1800wrms. I would be suprised if it would give you 500wrms. Honestly you are better off spending the cash first time round, that way you have the quality there and don't have to spend possibly even more money because the cheap gear fails.

DD PHIL'S "DOG POO THEORY"
Q. If you have a piece of dog poo, what do you have?
A. A piece of dog poo.
Q. You get another piece of dog poo, now what do you have?
A. 2 pieces of dog poo.
Q. You get a bucket of dog poo and tip it on top of the 2 pieces of dog poo, what do you have.
A. A pile of dog poo.
Q You get a wheel barrow full of dog poo, tip it on top what do you have?
Q. Get a truck load of dog poo, back it up and dump it on top, what have you got??
A. It's still bloody dog poo.
Exactly the same goes for audio equipment.
Adding more and more gear to try and fix a problem never works. Sit down, dream up your "ulitmate" system and only ever buy components from that system. You'll save money in the long run.
One really good sub, in the right box can play louder and sound better than four crappy ones ever could. One truly great set of speakers installed correctly will sound better than 20 sets of crappy ones.
Aim for this budget share:
Head unit 15% (It's 2005 CD players are nearly all awesome)
Speakers 50%
Amps 35%
Another golden rule: No amount of BBE, DOLBY, time alignment etc can ever make crappy or badly installed speakers sound good.

-1 dont buy from ebay, look in the forsale section for a good amp and sub. the jl is a weak sub and hifonic are know not to put out there rated power and you cant buy them locally here.

Don't buy off the net, support your industry and buy from a real car audio store. I'm sure there are a tonne of decent stores around you so you won't have to settle for shi77y Clarion woofers but if you do end up getting them, good luck with it. We told you you could get far better...

$1000 for what? Subs and amps?
On a budget, if you want huge bass, I'd go two subs. For efficiency, cone area is king.
You really don't enough for massive power, that would chew up the entire budget.
If it were me I'd drop in two of our 1515s and an MB2 (700Wrms). It rrps more than your budget, but with MEA discount and a little bit of help you'd get close and it would HAMMER.

It's essential if you plan on buying lots of gear, to establish a relationship with your store (no, not like that!

)
A store shouldn't rip you off if you're 16 as long as you're genuine when trying to make a deal. You must understand how many tools walk through the store's doors every day who are 'gunna do' things like make their VL with Alpine the loudest car in Aust etc. etc. You have a budget so you know what you have to stick to. $1000 is still plenty to buy right with, and even easier to buy wrong with if you don't manage it right.
Tell the store what you want and be realistic with it and they'll understand. I have been buying car audio since I was 14 and didn't get ripped off back then (much

). I guarantee you will find sharks out there who just want your money, it will take time but there are good stores who will look after you, you just have to do some research, go out and there and get a deal.
Good luck with it.

You don't need to constantly be buying stuff to arrange a relationship. I'd occasionally just go into the local store and have a chat to the people working in there, see what they're doing with their cars and just have a listen to some of the new gear they had up or what not. Sure, not all stores are like this, but if you have a chat with them in there they can find out what you're after and perhaps help you out to work some deals.
