Ill be there hopefuly competeing in novice if i get my tweeters in time. Otherwise I'll pop down and lend a hand.
NKX
Sounds cool, I'll be there (if I haven't sold the car by then). Does that mean my car can enter the Novice class?.... I've only ever entered it into one SQ event, and I didn't place at all....

audio nut
So what class would i be in
???????????????????????
~thematt~
From the rules....
QUOTE
Novice Class

The Novice class is designed for beginners and/or first time competitors. This class is restricted to competitors not working in, or affiliated with the Mobile Electronics industry, and no sponsorship is permitted.

Judging takes place from the drivers seat only, and focuses soley on the system's ability to accurately reproduce audio. No evaluation is given to the installation or show features, with the exception of safety considerations.

The competitor must not have achieved a result higher than and including 3rd place at a previous event. Once they have achieved higher than this result, the competitor must enter an appropriate higher level class.

- Equipment modifications are not permitted.

Intermediate Classes

The Intermediate classes are the most fiercely contested. These classes are restricted to competitors not working in, or affiliated with the Mobile Electronics industry, and no sponsorship is permitted.

Judging takes place from the drivers seat only, and focuses mostly on the system's ability to accurately reproduce audio.

Two judges may evaluate the vehicle, however only the lead judge's (driver's seat) evaluation will be considered the result.

- Equipment modifications are not permitted.

Expert Classes

Expert Classes are designed for enthusiasts with a strong understanding of audio, competitors who work in, or are affiliated with the Mobile Electronics industry, or have received sponsorship.

Judging of imaging and staging takes place from both front seats of the vehicle. Judging is also more critical in Pro Classes as judges expect accuracy and workmanship to be higher.

Equipment not 'commercially available' in Australia is permitted.
Equipment modifications are permitted.

You choose whether you want to go into Street or Show.

PRO Novice for me!

Correct me if I'm wrong here Snr, but didnt you pay less then cost for your RF amp? If so, I think that constitutes as sponsorship, and therefore you're in Expert......
WHEELZ
so what you're saying is that anyone who has had discounts on any equipment is now in expert unsure.gif blink.gif
Marc
No... discounts are OK ... unless it was actually sponsored. IE you have to plug / promote shop or brand in return for the discount you got.
Narchi
Paying Less than cost is far more than a discount. As a store we would expect some promotion to return that investment. If we are covering the price on a product that would be a some level of sponsorship to me. Also SNR is the Meawa rep so would have some affliation to the car audio industry. Same as the judges are affliated.

Matt this is the first Mea sq comp. So does that mean its a clean slate for those who have not competed before with people who have taken a first place. The reason i ask that is Narrogin had sq comp. As well as SQ comp at Alberts Morely Last yr. Do the first 2nd and 3rd place guys stay in novice? This links in with NKX question

What I payed for my amps for the Piglet (as far as I can remember it has never ran an SQ comp) is really not for public discussion to start with and if there are questions concerning these amps, I would appreciate this to be done privately as in a personal chat or Phone or at least a PM and MSN. Just to set the record straight, I DID NOT pay less than cost for them, nobody sponsored or is currently sponsoring anything or any part of either cars that I run in competition. Yes I have received very good deals as far as product purchases and work done on my cars but they have been done because of my involvement in this industry that I do, like others voluntarily. I like everyone else looks for bargains and does what they have too to get done what they need.

As far as classes are concerned I was pulling the piss out of you when I put "PRO NOVICE". How can you be a pro and a novice at the same time? I accept that I have some good gear in my Subi but as far a being set up and ready for an SQ comp, not going to happen. I'm not running SQ anymore due to the fact that it is not set up correctly and I haven't the time nor the ambition to do so. I do however support and will help where I can at the comps.

Marchi and NKX do have some good questions that need to be clarified so that the newbies can work out what classes that they will be competing in. I myself can't answer them so maybe if yourself, Kirbo or Woob can get your heads together and
let everyone know where the fine line is please.

Yes! Clean slate all around. I expect to see old faces in Novice, and new ones too!!

Senior, I'd say calm down, as Marc answered my question anyway, but its good to see a bit of passion with the sport!! Nothing like some emotion when it comes with Car Audio.

All we need to do is harness and focus it, and we'll have a great year ahead! smile.gif

As for the questions on classes, all the information provided above should clear it up, if not, I can truncate. It is entirely YOUR choice to do either Show (or stealth) or Street.

Expert: Custom Gear or modded equipment, work in the industry, being sponsored or using gear that's not commercially available in Australia over the last five years. Can also be anyone who wants to compete at this level.
Intermediate: None of the above, placed (top three) in previous Novice comps, anyone who thinks their car is hot, but single seat tuned only!
Novice: Newbies. First timers. Old timers that suck (tongue.gif)! lol Anyone who doesn't fully understand, and is looking for help/assistance and opinions.

Pretty much means you cant have amps that are modded to 16V, have custom build speakers or if you have custom cross-overs (not commercially available) etc. smile.gif

The way i read the rules and correct me if i`m wrong, is enter as a novice and get a third place or better, you automatically then get bumped up to intermediate and are down on points even before you start as they are not transferable.

Entering the bracket you intend on competing in for the full season is a must, and i too am keen on learning set ups and the like from the more knowledgeable out there. smile.gif
MEAT_AXE
If thats the case after evey round 3 ppl will move out of novice ?
buy the end of the season novice could be very empty
then again if i could manage to come forth in novice at every round i could win tease.gif
