So I noticed these are now listed in the online shop!
But I am wondering why they arent listed as pairs, such as a pair of tweeters or a pair of L3's, compared to the current sets there listed in. As these are how there sold OS, yet the shop only has them listed as sets (L3's and L1 etc...) in the shop.
Hopefully Marc will see this post and hopefully be able to say whether they'll be available as just pairs or even individual drivers.

Are you smoking something? They are listed as component sets!
You cant buy only half a component set bud!! (for say, just the left side....) If it was, thats WAYYY more expensive then importing the drivers.
If its not, its heaps cheaper then importing the drivers!!

No you misunderstood me, probably my fault I didn't word it very well!! What I'm getting at is, I don't want to have to buy a component set for instance the L41-2
http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au/store/...p;productId=289 . All I'd want is to buy a a pair of L4's so just the mids, I don't want the the tweeters, I actually already have a pair of the L1's and as far as I can tell they don't have them listed as pairs L8, L6, L4 and so on only as component sets example
http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au/store/...p;productId=289 .

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. All individual drivers (but still sold as pairs) are also available. I just haven't had a chance to put them online as yet.
Contact me directly if you are interested in them and I'll see what I can do.

Just wanted to thank & congratulate on the MEA (as I did on the HAT forum) both Marc and Scott. B. from HAT for this colaboration.
Im very happy and excited to see the HAT products available to us here in Aus. A world class competition proven product.
Thank you both, I know how much behind the scene time & logistical issues are involved with this.

I'm presently installing the 3 ways in my Pathfinder so they'll be ready for all to audition in VIC shortly.

Hi keepitreal07, interesting point you make about kicks vs pillar.
What car have you got them in, and have you got any pics of exactly how you have them mounted in the pillar now?

http://track.dhl-usa.com/atrknav.asp?Shipm...mber=8904924744They're here in Melbourne according to the above, but not sure when I'll actually get them.
If it's today, there is a chance I could have them in, but obviously I'm not going to rush the install.
Either way, I'll bring them along for anyone to look at them that would like to.

atm the are basically on axis in the kicks but i think i have them crossed to low and they are fighting with the mids, i am in the process right now of deciding if i should get the L4 or not and also at the moment i have just started pillor mounts....as much on axis to opp person as i can as i think that way it sounds best....

thank you marc for bringing them to the Meet.
yes, they are certainly beautifully crafted. they reminded me a bit of the old focal utopia's - lovely polished backplates, and chunky.
i look forward to hearing them. they'll be cr@p though.

I've had a set of L1's for awhile sitting in my toolbox, I gave them a quick try off my passive but due to different Ohm ratings they wouldn't have been crossed over ideally so I didn't give them much play time, plus there was generally an opinion that compared to the UR1's the L1's weren't likely to be an upgrade anyway. But from the quick listen I had they sounded quite nice, definitely a nice top end. When I finally get the system set up fully active I'll give them another try, and see how I like them. They should suit my system as although I believe the regular L1's can be crossed down around 3k they really excel in system's where they can be crossed at 6k or higher, which is around where I'd want to cross them.

P.S. It's great to see another excellant product in Australia, thanks Marc!!!

Just wondering if anyone has heard these first hand in australia..
I'm keen on a set of the Legatia 3 ways (L641-3) except with the L3 not L4 (as it woudnt fit in the stock location).
Is it possible to get sets with this configuration? Sounds like they are the business, and better than Dyn from what i've read. Are passive crossovers included in the price? Don't want to mix and match drivers, don't see the point of it.
Who actually sells them through the MEA site?
cheers,

I have a pair of L3's and in a simple listening test I performed at home, I was happy to say the least.
L4's are superior to the L3's by HAT's own admissions, so think about that. Not to say the L3 is poor, but the L4 is the next logical step above, so if you can make it fit, it would be worth it. I too have space restrictions so I will also be using the L3's instead of 4's.
The Legatia range does not come with x-overs, they work best in an active set-up or you can build/tune your own passive network... up to you, but the investment in these great drivers would manifest higher if you go all active.

Im also considering the L3 speaker and have the same issue as i have mkv gti, the L4 will fit with some work but the not willing to cut the door or trim. So the L3 will fit but just wanted to know how they would sound as i want to play them to around 250hz up or there abouts because of factory speaker locations.
Could you run these speakers on a passive crossover of a diffrent manufacturer??

not really no.
give it a try, although I'd imagine it would sound like @ss

Sep 30 2008, 08:48 PM
Maluko I don't think it's worth cutting the door either, i want to be able to put the factory 3 ways back in if i sell it. The L4 will definitely not fit without cutting. But the L3 should still be quite good. I'm going to consider these or the Supremo's for sure in the next car. Not going to bother changing from Dyn's now, but will see how they go running active.

i have the L1 tweeters. and if i could afford at the time would get the L4 within a heartbeat......but dont see they 800 price tag for the L8 8" so got peerless sls midbass.......

The biggest issue in our car is speaker location. the mid is the most important i think it has to be compact but able to play low.. 100kp fit but not sure if im after that live sound. maybe different tweeter will help
Going active will help but alot of hrs tuning

Given that i have the H701 already, assume it is easier to tune a passive system, but how much harder is it to get Active sounding good, and how does the H701 come into play. I'm wondering if i should keep it simple and just play with the tuning instead of going active. The stock locations sound ok to me , but obviously not better than if the tweeters were angled in etc. Seen some stupid arrangements on golf's with massive custom pods on the a-pillars that not only block vision but also a bit too close to the air bags - however the guy seems to know what he's on about as it's all very high end, however a big overkill for car audio given the listening environment and dynamics (ie windows up/down totally changes it).
