Hey guys,

I just scored a 1981 mazda 626 for free. It is a 2.0L 5 speed manual. Just wondering how to determine what model it actually is for example is it a deluxe? Also has anyone had experience with these cars. And do they share the same engine with anything else. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

i could be making this up so don't quote me but i am sure that the 929 was the best 626 next down etc. 121 are little run around cars. as for the motor i am sure you could fit a rotor in. who cares what you got in it now. Also i have a 1974 929 and you can't find **** about it. no one will make a repair manual for it and i m pretty sure 626's are the same. back to the question i am unsure if there were different types of 626's. they are not like the commodores with sl/e sl/x sl etc.

You forgot the 323.

DamosVL, i own an 82 626 (same model as the 81). Just send me a PM me with any of your questions. i'll give you a quick run down now. same chassis as the series 1 rx7 so a 12a or 13b will fit in there easy. the 2l doesnt like to rev to hard ie, dont go over 5k rpm to much. it was common to put the 1.6l head in place of the 2.0l. I'd have to get the book out the car to answere the deluxe question. I'm pretty sure only the deluxe and super deluxe came out with Air Con and they might be the onlt ones with a tacho aswell.
