What email client is sending the emails? Outlook, Eudora, other software or your web-based email?
KIRBO
Looks like your using hotmail, which is web interface only.

Its likely that your e-mail address is being spoofed using the "from" field within an smtp server. They pull a whole heap of addresses and send away using your e-mail address. Its a real pain in the ass but theres nothing you can do about it until the bad mail server is shutdown by the super cool net police. This is an on going problem with e-mail, and it'll never stop happening.

hmph....ah well.....thanks kirbo....

yes i use hotmail

i've never had a problem with getting stupid spam mail myself......and i dont really want to block the postmaster thing (incase it serves its purpose).......guess i'll wait it out then

cheers for the quick replies

Yeah I had the same problem to, went on for about a week, although towards the end I was getting fewer of the postmaster things, I changed my password aswell whether that helped or whether they just got there mail spoof thingy shutdown I'm not sure, but it did stop.

have you set up filters on your hotmail - I think you can set about 15 or so (delete email ending with.... containing.... from ..... etc) I think it's in the options menu.

I get some spam but often if you reply to it all that does is let the idiot who sent it know that it was opened - then more spam arrives...

Hotmail can be setup like a POP account kirbo

Are you using your hotmail just from the web interface Enzo?
enzo
yes

though.......havent had one in a couple of days now...so..perhaps its all sorted

wooo.......AGP Anti-Virus (Free Edition)...and AGP Anti-Spyware (will be a crippled full version once 30 day trial expires)

neither this pc, or my one before it skipped a beat, using only windows firewall etc happy.gif shok.gif cool.gif

so the results of the first scans from each of those should be interesting, i'll either be mildly chuffed (if nothing major turns up) or a little embarassed (..if something does lol)

pretty happy with the ol' PC atm....chucked on SP1 for vista last night, no dramas thankfully (after reading stories of all sorts of hassles, guess it was worth waiting for the 'official' SP1 and not the beta release)........

so new line-up of scheduled tasks....
- defrag @ 7pm
- system backup @ 8 Pm
- AGP virus scan @ 9pm (i think its 9)
- AGP spyware scan 3 hours after startup

with the AGP scans set to start on startup if they're skipped......though, with them seeming to take so long (and cant get them to $@#%@!ng shrink to system tray while running!!!).....might just make it once weekly i think

yaaawwwwn......back to truss analysis
~Sparkles~
Sorted?

Truss analysis - HAHA enjoy that. I've got a job im quoting thats obviously been engineered by a fresh ginger beer cause Ive never seen such heavy (read 150 x 150 x 19 ea over a web depth of under 1mtr) angle webs on a truss made up of C25019 purlin top and bottom chords in my life! (He's lucky im not the drafty on the job I'd be speaking with one of his principles thats for sure!) - theses are fricking facia trusses for crying out loud! not bloody roof trusses for a 30mtr span on a bomb shelter!

Mine was resolved turned out that the spare computer that we'd all forgotten about and didnt realise was on in the down stairs office had been on for about 6 months with its norton subscription out of date - 153 viruses! yep slean that up We're using Avira in the office now after fudd put me onto it - HEAPS better then norton 360 (it was on before I got here...) and way less resource hungry
enzo
lol 150x150x19?!?!?!?!?.......struth

my scans came up with a few traces of spyware and under half a dozen 'warning' virus/trojan things.

i was happy enough
~Sparkles~
Mate you wanna see what I see from young engineers - they over engineer EVERY thing. If theres a heavier weight they use it - if not they up it to the next section size! I've got column trusses in at the moment with 410 UB 54 web members and 610 UB 125 chords BIG BASTARDS!
