I am goin to get this nice unit hopefully at the end of the week

i have a few questions as i dont have the h701 as yet. 1 step at a time

what EQ features does it have
can i run 3way semi active of hu itself
trism
if its the same as the w200e then no it wont.

without the processor, all you can do is fade front to rear, and balance left and right

no xover control or anything.

so obviously no, you cant run 3 way semi active
Surefire
Check out Alpine's US website and look at the specs for the 205 equivalent as Alpine Australia has no details under the specs tab, that will give you a good idea of what the 202 has, minus sirius radio etc.

Tuning without the PXA is rather limited unfortunately. I don't think it will do 3-way semi active without the PXA, happy to be proven wrong though.

It's very limited without a PXA, so limited that I'd suggest another brand if someone was to consider buying the unit without a PXA.

If I were you, i'd buy the unit and leave it in a box and wait til you can afford the PXA. smile.gif

If this was me id buy pxa-h701 first as ive been told not many left as there going to a different model and id also wait for the new 502e to come out in a couple of months cool.gif

I got the 202 for a great price brand new from a shop. I know i have to get the pxa but money is an issuse atm. is there any eq with it on board at all.
shiny_car
yes, it has a 2-band EQ: 'bass' and 'treble'.

this is exactly what i might do, to get the headunit first, then the 701 later
seems to be a very nice combo and another nzice member showed me w202 and h701, and its just brillant...

I know there wasnt to many pxa-h701 left in oz thats why i bought mine the guy i deal with at store said might be about 6 left in oz and thats it no more and that was about a month ago .I was thinking ive upgradeing my 9887 to w202e for digital out instead of ai-net but when i saw that there was a new IVA - 505E coming out and has few things the w202 dosent that intrest me i think i will wait.

I emailed Alpine Aus last week about 502 and this is the response i got

Dear Ashley,
Thank you for your enquiry.

The IVA-W502E at this stage should be available in July, the Australianversion is not available to us at the moment and we haven't had a chanceto test this product. Therefore we are not sure if the PXA-H701 willwork.

I can recommend the IVA-W202E and the PXA-H701, as they are compatibleand will work together.

Kind Regards

From what i have read on other forums 505 american version has pxa-h100 which is a 7band eq and you use the ktx-100 (i think is the model number) imprint unit as well pxa-h100 stays in car at all times with imprint unit just plug tune take out.

I cant wait until July so i will probably invest in 202

i not know much about the 502 but from what i hear it just a 7 inch screen

what the difference between 202 and 200
Pulse-R
202 is heaps nicer to use - the touch screen, and the screen angle is more adjustable. IIRC the 202 has full-speed connection and better quality internal mechanism.
s4turn
Could you explain why it is easier to use? better menu's or buttons?

both are touch screens though?
Pulse-R
both touch screens, the 202 seemed more sensitive/more accurate for touching, and the menu appearance I thought was nicer.
keepitreal07
so i made good choice....smile.gif

has anyone fitted it to a 98 pulsar with jdm dash
ecyrb
to answer keepitreal07, the 502 will not only be a 7inch screen, have cooler menu systems/different menu style options. it will be compatible with bluetooth and imprint, and it will come with an ipod video and audio cable, which the the 202E doesnt. it should have more EQ options straight off the bat as well. oh and a higher res screen.
