I am a newbie

I just bought a set of Dynaudio 342 installed to an AE86 cost me 2000 dollar with installation will it be too expensive?

I am currently decide to use a Kicker ZR360 amp (which i had it for my sub b4) for it

I got 2 question ,

1) will kicker damage the speaker???

2) What is the best amp for Dynaudio 342??

kicker spec is here

Welcome for all advice

something from the audison 'Lrx' range
Digital Designs DD C4a and C2a
Eclipse xa4000 (x2)...one bridged for mid woofers, other one for midranges and tweeters
Focal 'FP' amps

there's a whole heap of amps to go for
i personally wouldnt use a kicker amp with such good speakers.
and no, it wont damage them, provided u wire everything correctly and set the gains properly

What sort of budget do you have for the amps? I'd imagine you'll want to be spending $1-2k on the speaker amp/s. I haven't checked the specs for the Kicker, if it's got enough channels then it will power them fine for now, and you can decide if you want more later on or not.

Something like 2x DDS4 amps, 1 bridged to 2x700wrms for midbass, 2x300wrms for mids, 2x300wrms for tweets (from memory these are the power ratings).

Edit - checked out the kicker, 2x90wrms isn't all that great really, so if you have money I'd suggest getting a nice pair of amps to run the setup.

Audiosystem f2-500 ftw

Just use the Kicker for now there is nothing wrong with that amp! And when you decide you want to upgrade choose something with at least say 200rms per channel to start making full use of the DYN's potential, I'd be aiming for 300 - 400rms per channel but 200rms per channel will be plenty.

Thanks a lot

700rms ?? 300rms?? will they blow the speaker?

The menu said it can handle only 200RMS.

Sorry i am new to this system. Do any amp is light weight and powerful enough for the speaker.

Why i choose dynaudio, because i cant put a sub in the car (weight problem), so can anyone advice me some amp , instead of using 2 , but just 1 amp.

Thanks

Also do 2000 too expensive??

Dyn 342 = about $1500...install will be at least $150 for a basic install...or at least $400 if you require any custom work - like fiberglass pods for any of the speakers.

if your paying $2000 for the speakers plus install, i would expect at least some nice fiberglass pods for the midranges, 2pac'ed and painted, plus maybe more pods for the tweeters or some sound deadening for the doors

Thanks spyne!

My car have lack of space, so they decide to put them on the door can anyone advice what is the best position to put them??

Sorry about that new pic
~Spyne~
personally i would try to get the tweeters on the dash, or in the a-pillar...just gets them that little higher and deeper to improve the staging

midrange can also be a tricky thing, and often works best in the kick-panels, again for improved depth

but it looks like a fair bit of custom work will be required to fit the speakers as shown in ur pick, so the quote of $2000 could be about right
~thematt~
?? Thats trim. I'll never install a speaker to trim.

Midbass in kicks. Midranges also in kicks. Tweeters in kicks (if they fit).

Otherwise, midbass in doors. Midranges in kicks. Tweeters in kicks (or dash).

The more power you have for the Dyns, the better. Best amp? Good solid reliable unit with more then 500W per side.

I decide to put the mid in the kick panel too, but the problem is the car is too small and close to the pedal with no room sad.gif

So the tweeter is better put on the bottom a pillar is that right ??

Thanks for everyone !!!!
~Spyne~
there's no set rule for where to put speakers...its different from car to car, speaker to speaker (and also person to person, as to what 'sound' they like)

for at least $500 that ur paying for the install, i would expect that the speaker will be mounted to the door panel, and the trim re-done. as ~thematt~ said, make sure its not just mounted onto the door trim - it will sound like crap
speaker should be screwed to mdf spacer, which is bolted to the inner door panel (metal).

An amp more than worth looking at is the tru copper C7 - If you dont know the amp google it wink.gif

This retailed at 5k when it came out, and its built to last a lifetime.

Do you want a tube amp? amp with pre amp tube? Or Solid state?

Tru Copper C7 has pre amp tubes, and the other version is Solid state.

There isn't really such a thing as 'normal home tube' but the copper c7 with tube pre amp is a hybrid to answer your question, so no its not a tube amp, and obviously nether is the solid state version.

With it you will be pushing over 550watts rms into each side of the dyns. They will love it wink.gif

Personally, I find the dyn 342 to be very warm and relaxed sounding speakers, so tubes may not be the best option if you want accuracy and clarity.

I have 300RMS per side to my dyns (almost 342 set - but with Morel tweeters) and that's nice. used to be only 200 per side, but 300 is better control in the midbass.

I would recommend a clean solid state amp to get the warmth from the dyns, and still keep good clarity in the upper mid range. most amps above $800 should be just fine.

extra power is good for headroom, you don't need to feed them full-power all the time. If the gains are set right, you can even use a 1000W per channel amp without destroying the speakers.

I would recommend getting the speakers far away from you in the install. I think the AE86 doesn't have much room in the kick panels, but if the mids are in the lower dash, and tweeters on top of the dash would be ok with the midbass in the doors. the installer should be able to give good advice in this regard before chopping the door trims to pieces.

Thanks pulsar-r

I told them before about put the mid range in the front console, but they said it is un equal height, which driver side is higer than passenger side. Also do u think can they seal the front console correctly?? The space in there is full of wiring.

Thanks for more advice
