Is it possible to get 150 decibels out of two 12 inch es124 Kickers Subs ran by a Coustic 400watt rms amp, if I have the right size box?
Roo
nope unless yours using a nokia phone as the meter, it normalling takes about 1-2000rms to hit the 150 mark with a good box
DD Phil
In a hatch, with a good box and testing, 140+ should be possible.

Short answer: No

Question: Do you need 150dB?
Sw1ft-Bass
Another question on top of chargers is, have you heard 150db before? Trust me its F*&^&#ing loud, and is probably 3-4 times louder then you think it is wink.gif

I just want boot install that is going to be competitive, and something that still looks pretty good at the same time.
Matt VIP
to put it simply, you need more power to be competitive.

However, as Phil said, you can get pretty bloody loud with a decent amount of thought and engineering. So dont dispair.

not until you see your car get metered anyway... laugh.gif

This is my current install, mainly due to the fact that i had to have room to put a pram in the boot:

I plan to have the subs both is a proper inclosure and mount the amps on either side of the boot. Not sure what direction to have the subs pointing, Front or back? I want to have it so the box can be taken out of the car to access the spare wheel.

RAD82
Subs facing back, unless you can have them firing into the cabin, sealed off from the boot.
Roo
spl and looking good dont normally go together, but if them subs are daul coils, whack another 2 amps on them.

at local comps 140+ should be competitive

Good stuff, never surrender all of your SPL.

It's pretty obvious you've never heard a 150dB car before dude. I think if you had an idea of what 150dB means you wouldn't ask the question tongue.gif

Never the less, you have some good starting gear there so by all means go ahead and put the time into making a good enclosure. Hitting 140dB would be a good effort for you and I'm sure you'd be happy once you heard it good.gif And that is what its all about! Forget the numbers, they LIE!!! tongue.gif
Plus, those sort of numbers are enough to have some fun at local comps.
Maybe attend a couple before hand and re assess your goals...

I'd rather have 140 at 40Hz than 150 at 60Hz any day.

That is of course, if you like music. If you only want to enjoy 2 second burps outside the car, then you might go the other way. smile.gif

20Hz is boring.

PS: I did my 20Hz thing 17 years ago. Look up "The Planet Krypton"
