With all this talk going on about spoons box and his ports wondering what do you all think off mine then as it is built by the same guy that built spoons box it is 3.7cuft and has 2x6" ports and tuned to 54hz, i have a epsilon ea5000d at 0.5ohm providing the kick, this is run in a n14 pulsar hatch and a best score to date of 142.5db. i plan to up the hz to 65hz and 45hz to see if either is any better, i need to flare the ports aswell and brace the box.

ah i reckon block one of the ports and see how ya go.

a guy i know owns 2x shnieder 12's in a new model suzuki swift. he runs an epsilon 5000D and only had his running at 2ohm and managed 145.8's. yes i know its a different car. he was using two 4'' aero ports.

but anyway i reckon try blocking one port of and see how you go.

for one single 12'' sub i reckon 1.8 - 2 cube with a single 6'' flared aero port. loading to the rear of the car for an N14.

cheers billy

It's too big and tuned too high.

I'd go 2 cubes net or smaller, build the box so you can move the end wall to change the volume for testing.

You very rarely need to tune higher than 45Hz in that type of car, as they tend to hit around 54-56Hz.

Diesel also played around with a single T4 12" off 1000w or so. Ended up doing 143.xdB @ 40Hz in his wagon. The box was around 2ft^3 with two 4" aeroports but I'm sure he can help you with the specifics.

is there a mathamatical formula for working out port frequency i have 3 progams and all 3 give me a different result on port length when all the specs are the same.

My friend has a massive file with formulas, diagrams etc. behind building enclosures. I'll try and get a photocopy of the port tuning page.
