hey guys, im new to MEA and dB drags and i am interested in getting into some spl competitions and i have a couple of questions regarding this.

i have read a few times about the resonant frequency of the box matching that of the car and i was wondering how to find this out, i have an 88 N13 nissan pulsar hatch does anyone know the resonant frequency of this car? or how to find it out?

i will be running 2 soundstream spl 12 subs off of 2 response 800WRMS amps. ive read the rules for dB drags and i was wondering, in street b it says no more than 4 conductors running from the amp to the subs, is this for each amp/sub or total as my amps have 4 outputs (2+, 2-) and i was wondering if this was legal

thanks

It's a total. You can only have two pairs of wires coming from your box/es. It doesn't matter how many are on the amp as long as you don't exceed the amount of wires.

1 wire = one conductor

New Street B rules now only 2 conductors from amps to box

bugger, so if i run the 4 wires from each amp (total 8 wires amp to box) this will bump me up into the next class? what is the next class?

EDIT: ok figured it out myself, (it will bump me up into street c)
gsaqua
Street stock B is 4 conductors per sub

cool so i can run in street stock b with 4 conductors per sub/amp combo, thats one question answered.
anyone know how to get the resonant frequency of my car?

The boys at cartunez and phil helpe me find mine the other day... Testing testing testing... get a testtone cd and a termlab and keep playing sweeps til you get in the ballpark then play each tone and watch the screen... then go chasing the rattles lol...

Go to jaycar and buy 1 of their $100 db meters or find somebody who has 1 then get a tone cd then play through each tone until you find the 1 that gives you the highest number and that is the rf of your car then build and tune your box 10hz below the rf of your car, i sure that is right for tuning the box to the car if im wrong someone will say so. good.gif

I wouldn't do that, not very accurate.

Establish a relationship with a store, you'll get great deals and advice.
