Two throughts come to mind:
1 - Tune the box 5-10hz lower and you'll move more air
2 - A lot of cabin space probably wont score well - wall it

lol yeah a wall would work ok but need the box to be removable
and still allow for some space, might be scaring the rear passengers too well i know id be kinda scared if i got tolled to sit in a huge box hmmm booom booom.
tuning lower do you mean makeing the port width wider or narrower to lower the tuning freq/Hz? im guessing id have to make the port narrower to get the Hz lower but im not too sure any one care to share? any other thoughts on how the setup may go?
cheers

Longer is generally the go to make it tuned lower... lower freq has a longer wavelength... If i'm backwards somebody will correct me i'm sure...

Yep longer is the better option, too narrow and the port will chuff, amongst other things. But you can only go so long. The general rule of thumb as far as i know, is under 30" long for port length, and 9:1 ratio of port width to height.
Best way would to simply increase the box size a couple of cubic feet rather than run a tiny port.
Instead of the wall, you could always just run Infinite baffle, so just the baffle behind the B pillar and the rest of the van is free for passengers. I remember MTX had an old VW Kombi as an SPL car, 12 x 15"s or something in an IB setup, the rest was mids/electricals and a couple of seats in the cargo area.
