Hey, I have a few questions about running a pxa along side with my Iva-d310e. I was abit unsure with the diagram provided by alpine so i thought id double check. Now with the pxa does this run along side the brains on the d301e and how does it all connect. My understanding is that you can run either a optical cable to it but im still not certain.

If anyone could shead some light that would be great.

Cheers,

Dave

The H701?

Yerp, was going to just ask you Matt but wasnt to sure if you had played around with them much...
At the moment im just trying to get my head around everything as im trying to get a basic layout of how many sets of rca's are needed and if ill have space to place things.

dunno bout with the 310e

but with my w200 i ran an optical cable from the headunit to the 701, and also the ainet cable. all RCA cables went from the 701 to the amps

^ Pretty sure its the same for the D310E.

Ai-Net for 'control'. Optical for audio. I may be wrong though.

y r u getting the 310 when ur getting a pxa dave? The only real diference i found was the screen was alittle bit bigger and abit better quality over the 105. For the price of a 310, u could nearly pick up a 105 and pxa. Thats just ,y personally opinion

the pxa is a processor.

the 310 is just the dvd player and screen, with minmal tuning abilities.

combine the two and its uber leet

Got a good price on the d310e.

With AI-Net and optical connected (and optical turned on at the source) it will use optical for CD/DVD audio, and AI-Net for radio. With the optical disconnected, it will use AI-Net for all audio.

AiNet for control and 2ch audio, optical for bit stream audio not 2ch Rick, i.e. the processors decodes the bit stream to play back dvd audio/video 5.1, etc smile.gif

Oh, i see. Makes sense.

Slightly off topic for a sec, and George you may know, im thinking of getting a H701 for use with my 9835, but the 9835 doesnt have Optical. I dont see myself ever going down a 5.1ch route, so id just be connecting Ai-Net to pass the audio then hey? Is this an ideal setup?

no optical from memory, but if you RTFM (if you have it) it will confirm if it has one mate tongue.gif

Just to add, I don't even think it can be controlled from the head unit so you might need to get the controller too...

Correct. Id also require the RUX-C701.

The question i was asking was if it was ideal to use Ai-Net for passing the audio stream in this instance, as i dont have any other choice - bar buying a new HU. Keep in mind that id never go to a 5.1ch setup, so i only need 2ch (which is what Ai-Net provides from my understanding). But is there enough SQ's with Ai-Net? tongue.gif

Question, So does the brain of the 310e run along side the pxa or does the pxa replace it?

Cheers
Pakman
No the pxa doesn't replace it. I am running that set up at the moment, as i think acouple of ppl on here are.

The 310e is connected via Ai-net to the H701, and the optical used for the audio from the 310e.

Pulse-R
the 701 doesn't replace the 310 brain, it runs along-side it.
If you don't have a screen, you need the controller to program the 701.
