Im after some idea's on a boot install for my car.

heres a similar pic of my boot (taken from another site) only thing is, my boot doesnt have the ski hole? or whatever you call it.

I have a few idea's in mind, but seeming I havent started yet, I thought id ask on here what peoples opinions are.

So the car is a Toyota Altezza or better known in aus as a Lexus IS200 (same body etc)
my gear to go in the boot is:
Boston GT42 amp
GT24 amp
PXA h701
just deciding on either a G5 12" or SPG555 depending on funds...

the catch is though... if I can I would like to gain acess to the spare tire and also reuse the boot space... if possible
if boot space wasnt an issue, im sure i could come up with something wacky.. tongue.gif
the boston amps are not of a small footprint.. esp the GT42
they are quite wide

idea's please... biggrin.gif

any idea's?

Hmmm...

a suggestion... rack mount the 2 amps up the back of the boot... if the space is wide enough..

then mount the sub into a rear quarter, firing at the opposite wheel arch... you'll need a FG enclosure to do this but would work well and retain most boot space..

We did a Honda Civic Type R with a slimline sub in the boot. The box was butted right up against the seat and the amp was installed under the front passenger seat. There was still ample room to fold the boot liner up and remove the spare if it was needed. You could possible look into doing something similar?
Damo95
doubt you'd be able to do that with the Boston amps.. they are massively long!!

Ahhh, good point. I think your rack-mount system tied in with my sub-mounting idea's may do the job?

Have you thought of using slimline subwoofers?

Why? Frankly, they suck!

Besides, the enclosure volume dictates the space used, not the woofer depth!

Here's an IS200 I did a while back.

Can't see anything boss....

Have a quick look through the rides/install section - there should be plenty of inspiration in there.

But just joking smile.gif

Now back onto the subject,

Whats the go with it?

Eg...

Are you going to be fabricating it yourself?

If not whats your budget etc?

well I've decided what I'm going to do, seeing Bens install thread in his Magna has give me some brillant idea's

i guess i will loose bot space, but will retain my spare! smile.gif

F the spare. who needs it.

Here was my old boot that i did in my Is200

Boot in the IS250 will be similar (ish)

Only a few ways you can mount a 21" sub practically.

21" subs are massive. How did you fit that?

id say, dont worry about having a spare, use tyre foam to get you home and get the puncture fixed and the foam washed out the next day...
you can fit your spare when you get home and drop your flat off to be fixed/cleaned out the next day....
some guys dont like foam but over night wont hurt the tyre...
then you can do away with your jack, spare wheel and wheel brace and that will save you a good 10-15kgs...
as you know custom installs get heavy and saving 15kg before you even start makes sense hey?......its worth considering anyway i reckon, nice car too mate, have you seen hektic customs is200? very nice. google them, youll see it. or try hekticcustoms.com but im not sure about that..

i think you should go A symetrical. not enough of these systems out there. you could always find out how many ways you can pull the spare out with different false floor combos.

just grab some mdf from a building supply shop (ask for cover sheets. these are a 1/4 of the price but only slighty chamfered on the edges from tie down points!), grab a jigsaw and have a go. cant hurt to try....

i like to use scrap pieces to represent components, and can give good placement results without risking scratches.
