Hi After having to sell my sub and amp to fix my car not long ago ill have enough money soon to go shopping for a new sub and amp for it and one for my splits and was wondering what people thought of the alpine pdx amp versus the focal fp series. Basically im looking at a 2x150wrms amp for my Rainbow profi pahse plug splits and a mono for either a idmax or idqv3 and just wanted to know what either amp are like for sound quality im really interested in the PDX because of their small size but dont know if it will be a huge sacrifice in quality over the focal amps.
Ur opinions on both would be greatly appreciated .

i own a focal fp2.150.... great amp, excellent build quality, never had a problem with it physically or audibally (if thats a word haha) im also running a focal fp 1.800 on my idmax, great amp once again, wish it had bit more balls but it does the job very nicely

ps- im currently selling my 2.150 find my thread in the f/s section

why didnt u add the jaycar fullrange classD to your choices aswell?
I would have picked that!

if you are going to be doing SQ competition I would personally go for the Focal Amps, yes they are a little bigger than the PDX, but still a very nice amplifier and nice sounding amp and that

I've never run the Focal amps myself,

but I have run the Alpine PDX's

my impression of them, was simply that if you have a tiny little car, with a little alternator,
with a poor little power system, and not much room to fit amps. Then there is no better option
than the Alpine PDX.. these things are super effecient, and are plenty ballsey and are so easy to fit in
any install.

However.. they are hopeless in sound performance compared to my Soundstream A/B class amps,
I don't care if your running speakers or subwoofers, They just don't compare
sound wise to a larger and hungrier amplifier.

and for that reason, until I buy a tiny hatchback, these tiny D class amps will be off my shopping list.

I did note that the PDX's didn't sound too bad if you ran then at 8 ohm.

This is of course my opinion only, so you can take it or leave it.

if they are soooo efficient why do they get so hot???

class a/b amps any day anytime anywhere. Only if you dont have the room should you use an alpine pdx.

Went and listened to the focal amp on sat unfortunatly Tonkins didnt have a pdx in their demo board to listen too as well but i ended up buying the focal amp as it sounded really nice and i got it at a good price.

Thanks for the advice.
