Hey Guys'
I'm building up a full factory look/hidden setup so basically im leaving the factory HU in place and mounting mine in the glovebox. Now the question I have is I was thinking of mounting the HU in an anodized aluminium shroud/box that will be open at the back, but im worried about the HU overheating does anyone else think this might be a problem. Oh its in a new barina anyone also happen to know what size speakers will fit in the doors i havent taken the trims off yet to lazy to.

Drill some holes in the shroud so the HU can vent and it should be fine. The extra aluminium should act like a heat sink. I have my HU in glovebox and havent had any over heating problems

doors in the XC barina hold a 6.5" you will need to make a plate to make them fit properly.
do you have an '04 or an 05 one? ( there is a reason I ask.)

is it a pain in the A** with it in there, i mean for cd changing and using it etc? i guess the remote would come in handy but does the glove box have to be open to use it?

Thanks for your replies guys. I will drill some holes and put some mesh in behind them. It is an 05 plated Why? Changing CD's will be a bit annoying but i can live with that. There is a particular device you can get that enables you to use the remote with the glovebox closed cant remember what it was called and who made it though.
Thanks again guys

be careful when you do the wiring on that one. the radio is controlled by a computer and if you make a mistake you could cause a nasty repair bill.

Yeah I heard about the radio my friend who i bought it off (he's a holden salesman) told me about that, thats part of why i decided to leave the standard radio where it is rather then swap it and make a surround for an aftermarket unit to make it look like it belongs. Plus i think it has something to do with controlling the data screen which i want to keep working.

data screen is CANBUS 'ed to the radio and the radio to the rest of the car. there is an adapting plug and facia that willl let you do the full swap easily you will need one of these:
and the adapting plugs. the antenna will require a cable as well.
fire me a pm if you need help. I do a few of these.
