hi guys, ive been trying to search for the best set of speakers around for the front of my car. Ive looked at a few brands such as clarion, alpine etc.. Ive just had a look at some Boston Acoustics Z6 6.5 inch speakers they seem to be the go. Are they the best on the market and if not what comes close??
Any help on this would be much appreciated! thanks!

Welcome to MEA buddy, this is a the SPL section, where you come for info on how to get loud, this question would be better off in the SQ section.(sound quality)

There is no such thing as best speakers on the market as speakers are completely subjective to the listener. There is no point buying a set of speakers on price alone and you will have go out and have a listen to the speakers for yourself and see what you like. What sort of budget do you have for the speakers cause the Z6 retail for $1499 and are now old models.

The replacements for the Z6 are the SPZ60 i am not sure of the price as they are really new and the Boston price list hasn't been updated yet. There are lot a lot of other brands that can be considered as well that have high end speakers i will just list a few of the top of my head, Focal, Dynaudio, Hertz, Morel, Oz, DLS and Polk. These are just a few of them there are many more. However it dosen't matter how good your speakers are there are also other things to consider like the installion and what amplier you choose to power them. If they are not installed properly and are running of a crap amp then there is no point spending so much on the speakers. Michae1 is right if you want the most people to advise you on the speakers and give you information this is not the right section and you should move it to the sound quality section. I didn't notice that it was is the wrong section when i posted.

also, are you after a 2 or 3-way setup? with a budget like yours they are certainly worth considering but price will obviously be higher again (top focal utopia beryllium 3-way set is just shy of $5k).
and as t-dog said, other factors to consider are a high quality installation and also the amp you will be using to power them as both can have a significant impact on sound quality.

Set a budget for speakers, get a list of the best audio stores you can get to (Dorans, Precision and FHRX in sydney spring to mind), take a bunch of CDs with you and ONLY AUDITION SPEAKERS YOU CAN ACTUALLY AFFORD TO BUY. Take a little notepad and write down what you like and dont like about each set of speakers, and voila! at the end of the weekend you'll have waxed the lot.
we cant tell you which is best, only you can do that

Indeed, I LOVE my ZR's, probably one of the best 2-way split I have heard.
