Hi
Same deal different drivers to select from, once again thanks for all the help received thus far and forth coming.
Chasing a SQ front stage:
I've been recommended the Kickers Rs on this forum and have fund the value of the next model up KS to be considerable well within range.
Late last night or early this morning? 430am I was flipping though an old CSA Mag and found a comparison of the said DLS UP6 v Kicker KS56.2 v Focal 165K2P including others. DLS 4th Kicker second and Focal 7th....
As in previous posts I very much like the sound of the focal drivers, though in the review they don't rate much better than a cheap set of clarion or Sony drivers? I've added the DLS bar the mounting grill; (basketball anyone!) for that fact it will fit in the allowable space, shallow mounting depth and width; it also ranked very highly for sound reproduction.
Price wise on-line DLS UP6 and Kicker KS56.2 may be had for around 350us / 400us delivered, focal don't fair the same around 400us to 600us+.
I've auditioned all drivers over time, prefer the focal; smooth and precise, found DLS muddy and to up front on mid bass and kicker sounded what I call tinny or metallic sounding.
Further more any real world opinions and suggestions would be greatly apriciated....

If you've had a listen, and prefer the focals, then get them. Reviews and other opinions may differ, because they all might have them installed differently, different personal preferences and all the rest.

I know ebay isnt to be encouraged around here.. but you can get Irdium 6.2's on there for around $450 u.s and the up6's could be had around $250
they are the second best 2 way's you can get in the DLS range I think.

The UP's are 4th in the line up, it goes UP, UR, Irid, and Nobelium.
Have you checked too see weather they take price into comparison in that test. If so that may unravel the results, it's the same reason why a Jaycar amp can win compared to amps three times it's price, this is something they do quite often in there tests, it's not that the Jaycar is the the best amp there it's just great bang for your buck, (I can't remember all the details of the amp test I'm thinking of and the Jaycar may not have won but I'm using it as an example to highlight my point) and somehow this makes it the best??? Personally I think cost should be left out of review results, they should do a little sideline piece to throw price into the decision.
