Hybrid Audio Technologies Legatia-Series the Subject of Rave Review by United Kingdom Reviewer and Industry Expert

Atlanta, GA – Hybrid Audio Technologies has received word that its Legatia-series L631-3 three-way component set just received the highest honor in the United Kingdom from professional reviewer Adam Rayner: the coveted “State of the Art” award.

The Hybrid Audio Technologies Legatia L631-3 three-way component set was recently reviewed by Adam Rayner, Technical Editor for Talk Audio – Mobile Electronics Online Magazine. In the world of car audio and electronics, Talk Audio is the information portal for the United Kingdom’s growing and robust society of installers, enthusiasts, and car audio competitors, with an on-line magazine and the country’s largest on-line bulletin board, home to almost 25,000 members. Adam’s credentials list is long, including reviewing home theatre equipment and mobile electronics for fifteen years, and having written for or held posts as Mobile Electronics editor at Max Power, Fast Car, Redline, Stuff, T3, HiFi Choice, HiFi News, BBC Top Gear magazine, Focus, BMW Car, The Daily Telegraph, SMMT Brochure for the UK motor show, Car Hifi, and Car Stereo & Security. Adam also appears regularly on the national BBC News and Breakfast as a motoring journalist. When asked to partake in an evaluation of one of our eight available Legatia three-way component systems, we immediately agreed; this is our first official review of our speaker systems and a valuable opportunity to “back-up” our multiple victories in organized competition (more than 20 world-championships to date in our short 2 ½ year history).

We are pleased to announce that Adam’s review of the Legatia L631-3 was glowing. As outlined in his official review, located here: http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/index.php?optio...view&id=308, Adam likened the Legatia L631-3 set, which was supplied to the reviewer in semi-infinite baffle enclosures to replicate in-car conditions, to the sound of “a pair of hifi enclosures.” Adam went on to say “I could hear brushed cymbals in the background I had never heard before…I (could) hear edits and cuts. Hell, I could almost see the bloody faders in my mind’s eye. So analytical, so sweet, and with pin sharp placement of the instruments. A fabulous speed and rapid rise time for impulse sounds like the leading edge of big thumps. Front and foremost and clean as a whistle.” Then a realization occurred to Adam, as he commented “…these potent, spanky and incredibly high quality and crisp definition loudspeakers are not £1,000 like the JBL set I tested (here) or even £1,400 like the Morel I tried (here) but are £560 plus whatever you want to do with an individually designed passive or else six channels of super clean amplification…all of which adds up to an unbeatable-at-the-money package of truly fabulous speakers.”

The unprecedented review of the Legatia L631-3 was concluded with the component speaker system being awarded the second-ever “State of the Art” award, and a 9.6 out of 10 ranking (the first State of the Art award went to a CD source unit, making this the first speaker system in Talk Audio history to achieve this coveted award). Many speaker systems have been tested before, but Legatia is the first to achieve “State of the Art.” .

sound like good speakers but the install requirements sound very strict
Marc
How so? The Legatia don't come with passive crossovers, which I understand as 9 out of 10 enthusiast running serious gear are running with the flexibility of 'active' anyway. The lower range, 'Clarus' do however come with passive crossovers to suit that application.
mac_man_luke
that review seamed the insinuate that and just from reading there documentation

But im sure they are just more forward in there quest for good install quality, eg all speakers could benefit from what they are asking for

re passives, id love to run a 3way set active but unfortunately my headunit only does 2way active, so id need passives to run semi-active (or just wait till i can get a PXA)
Marc
You could still run active from the amplifiers on (assuming you have enough channels), which is the way I've always done it. Makes it that little more difficult to setup and tune, but once done .... set and forget smile.gif

Hybrid Audio Technologies also have 2 way component sets, so for those not wanting or unable to go with 3 ways, everyone is catered for.

yea but there tweeters dont play low enough for me in a 2 way system smile.gif
Pulse-R
you'd never want tweeters playing much below 4k anyways....
Alternatively, the L1-Pro should be fine down below 2kHz (Fs = 698Hz)

there documentation i find is nothing but excelent, it's there to help you with your stereo, it's indepth and extreemly helpfull.
i think everyone should read though them, it will help you with any speaker!
it's nice to finaly see a car audio speaker maker bring out some usefull documentation insted of marketing rubbish or just nothing but + connects to + etc.
Marc
I've linked up all the manuals and documentation for each product in the store for that very reason. Great stuff.

Depends, you either want a tweeter that can play very low and be placed in the kicks alongside your mid to keep imaging cues coming from as close to each other as possible or a woofer that can play high 3-4k therefore they can be placed in the kicks etc.. far away dealing with all the imageing cue freq's and have your tweeters up high to help lift the soundstage and they shouldn't slur your image if the woofer will play high enough, which is something the Legatia woofer doesn't seem to have any issues doing. In my eyes this second option is more favorable for me, from a installation point of view and for my listening preferance with a two way setup. But that's me, and my opinion everyone has there own ideas and ideals though.
