Ok guys,

here is my new problem smile.gif

I have a Pioneer DEH-P59501B CD player head unit.
I'm buying a DVD player head unit ( The $270 jaycar one(money doesn't grow on trees!)).
I'm putting the car in next week to get 2 7" headrest monitors installed"

Note -NEITHER ARE INSTALLED.. YET.

I'm putting the DVD player in a custom mount in the glove box (Should i talk to the guys about putting a fan or 2 in aswell) and the cd player (MAIN) head unit will be going into the Standard Head unit position.

I want to be able to use the cd player as the main souce, wire the screens up to the DVD player, and wire the DVD player as a secondary unit to the CD player.

Now in english my questions are as follows..

1)
Can i use the CD player as the master and choose weather to stream the audio from the DVD player of from a CD player whilst the dvd player and screens are active.

2)
Can i hook my nintendo 64 up to the DVD player then transmit to the screens. Also tying in with the first question.

-EDIT, dont forget i'll be hooking the screens up to the DVD player... OF COURSE! smile.gif

If you want me to clarify it anymore just ask...

Dont forget to check out my install =D

Thanks guys!!!!

Yep and yep.

Why are you using the two units though, why not just use the DVD player on its own?
Or sell your current Pioneer and buy a DVH-P5950MP?

Seems like a lot of mucking around for little gain.

Because i need a DVD player in the glovebox for shows and i'm a difficult person tongue.gif

Two options:

Listen to the advice given by selfdestructor....
by having a "DVD headunit" it will give you control of source via the facepanel or remote, meaning you will be able to switch between you dvd and N64 at the touch of one button...

If you dont listen to the advice and go about being "difficult"
each time you want to change to dvd or N64, you will need to select aux on the headunit and either a: swap rca connectors between N64 and your dvd player or b: buy a source selector that allows multiple rca in and one set out. it will become a 3 or 4 step task to change between CD, FM, N64, DVD.

Thats fine, its mainly for show use anyway.
Re-doing the glove box to be super cool. And BROADZ, reply to my pm from ages ago dammit! =D

I have literally 200 magazines here to go thru to find the article you wanted to see.. havent had a chance to in the last few weeks

if you must mount something in the glovebox to be cool at shows, why not mount a wanky capacitor or your crossovers there instead. Personally i couldnt justify the inconvenience of having seperate DVD and CD players when you can buy an all in one device that does just that. If it was a very high end headunit that doesn't come with DVD then yeah, you would have to use an external DVD player... But when your headunit you wish to use comes in an identical dvd model (the DVH-P5950MP) i know what ide be doing smile.gif

when i get a chance, i'll start browsing through my 15 yrs of hot4s/fast4s/incar etc and find that article for ya
BillK
Haha, thanks man.

The reason i feel like doing it the hard way is because:

- Working 2 days a week and being a student 3 days a week is hard to get money tongue.gif
- I'm difficult
- I want MOAR experience! =D

But hey, i'm in this for experience for my next car (hint starts with a c ends with a hrysler 300c)
=D

Thanks for your help man tongue.gif

Appreciate it MUCH MUCH!!

Billappreciated
