Hi Guys im, planning my new system after getting rid of my old car, which had a very loud DD system.

Im after a Deceptive, install, im planning on leaving everything except the boot to have the appearance of being "stock" 5g is the ceiling of the amount of mony i want to spend.

So far the i have factored this into the starting cost of the project

Optima Yellow Top
0Gauage run to boot
Terminal Upgrades
Fuses and Distro's
SDing
RCA's

So far my number's place me in the $1400 bracket to get exactly what i want for that aspect of the install.

So far, I would like to continue my relationship with using audison amps,
so im looking at a LRX 1.400 and a LRX 2.500
Which I should get for about $1600

Now im unsure about what exact speakers, I like the idea of 12" IDMAX in sealed inclosure Dual 2ohm wired to 1ohm load. should the get about 900wrms on tap.

For fronts, im not totaly convinced infact I'm unsure because it is such a important part. I have used dyna audio, and i have had good experiances, Im looking at the 240gt System, which goes for around $800.

Obvously im yet to audition other splits, Morel, Hertz, Diamond Audio. etc. However im looking towards to dynaaudio. Bad choice, could be better?? let me know.

The 240GT's are very popular indeed. If you want a taste of the exotic, you could even go for seas or scan speak. It's normally hard to recommend SQ speakers though because a lot of it is personal taste. I like warm sounding splits.

start by trying to sound deaden the doors

the wrx doors really need it

next let us know where you are planning to place the tweeters. This will decide if you will choose metal or soft dome tweeters.

dyns are nice but to get the most out of these tweeters HAVE to be aimed towards your head. These are not designed for off axis.

im not 100% sure you will be able to fit the dyns in the door. The 97 wrx i installed i used dyn mw150 and they JUST fit. The gt160 actually has less depth than the mw150 (by 1mm) and has a basket that is over-all thinner. SO if the 05 is similar to the 97 wrx then you should be able to do it.

I suggest you take the door off and start measuring to make 100% sure.

sounds like youve decided on the entire setup so really there is no reason to suggest other brands of amps or subs.

if you live in melb then the autobarn airport west wrx is a definite must see and hear.

Thoughts on where they should go, Ill look at the door tomorrow, I have ordered the sound deading, so i may even leave pulling the door apart till next weekend and do it all at once.

for a soft dome i love dash mounted

the stock location in the door opener position is terrible for imaging and i would definitely not recommend a metal dome tweeter there.

the place next to the mid in the bottom of the door will not be all that good either. A metal dome would be a better choice there. Problem is that when you close the door your legs are in the way of the tweeter.

your mid location will work but to really get the most of the dyn mid you will have to open it up.

example try the mid without the door trim then place the door trim/stock speaker cover over it and youll notice that 90% of you mid is cut off!!!

custom door pod in that stock location will make a massive difference and truly make the dyns sound awesome

Where about should i go to get a tweeter pod like that, look sexy as, would look the part, but not to bling bling
jas
sorry about that pic

thats from the european sq champion or one of them im lead to believe

i assume that the pod is a fully one off (well pair) custom cnc machined for that particular car and tweeter

this is what happens when you have too much cold weather lots of cash and too much time on your hands smile.gif

but it looks awesome though

have a look at this web site :

Don't mount them on your yellow circle - worst place for tweeters.

Blue circle would be fine if you can get the angle right other wise dash mount or kickpannel mount.

PS nothing wrong with the rest of the system - not what i'd choose personally but it'd stil be darn good.

Had a chat with a few people at the local audio store, the clown's said that that the tweeter pod will have to be made, nothing avaiable.

So hmm, i thought well im rather good with FG, so lets do some prototypes. biggrin.gif

I should have my first done this arvo!!!
chilli
Ok maybe not a finished prototype.

So far, im guestimating, the best size, but if i make 2 - 3 of these its not big deal, easy to make and hopefully the last ones i make will be top notch.

So far they are being made out of 3mm marine ply. and balsa.

the front baffle is angled towards the opposite headrest.

Front 5cm dia
Back 2cm Dia
7.5cm long

Progress pics

Next will be remoce the center stringer,

Apply the cloth, FG, sand, sand, bog, sand, Verneer, Sand, 2pac polly clear, sand, paint some more, sand.

The hope is to hve some hot looking "wood" pods

I had an inverted ti12d elite in the back of my 05 rex, weight was total **** and through cornering off alot. Do you mind this? If so, may wanna look at a smaller sub
