I am not sure if the nokia can do this but on my phone i can copy my contacts to my sim card and when i put my sim card in another phone it should ask if i want to transfer my contacts across and just select yes and it tranfers the contacts.
bmroxm5
when i changed my nokia 6280 to my current N76, i 'Synced' the N76 with the 6280 via bluetooth and it prompted if i wanted to copy all contacts and calendar entries.
BillK
I got internet on it.

Just veiwed this topic on my iphone =D

Not to put you down but the Iphone 3G was annouced today. Luckily for you there aren't many advantages between this and the 3G version. To the disappoint of many people the Iphone 3G did not meet any of its rumored claims. In fact the only major change is that it has 3G. However the 3G in the phone is only useful for mobile browsing. It is a 3G phone but it dosen't have a front facing camera for making video calls!
BillK
I have 3G on my Dubai iPhone in my hand at the present time =D

few calls to telstra..

Come september the iPhone will be released direct to Aus and compatible.
T-Dog
How did you get the 3G version? Its release date is July 11th and everywhere you try and get it from is pre-order only.
BillK
New telstra 3G sim card -> Call to telstra (125111) -> They walk you through -> Hang up phone -> Turn phone on and off -> wallah, internet at your wish, etc etc.

Very impressed by the browsing on the phone.

Slightly off topic:
T-Dog - is the July 11 release date for here in Aus? I'm probably gonna be looking at getting a new phone sooner rather then later, so don't want to be waiting forever, but July 11 would be nice.
T-Dog
As far as I know the realese date in Australia is July 11th for the 3G iphone along with 21 other countries. Optus and vodaphone will both be selling the phone and both have it on there websites. I would take caution in buying the iphone though and don't get caught up in the hype. In my opinion there are better overall phones than the iphone. I have a viewty which is a great phone but it has some flaws and limitations to it but would still prefer it the an iphone as it haves a good camera while still having decent multimedia capabilites. The iphone strong point is its multimedia capabilties but other features are lacking for example a decent camera. The ideal phone would be a combination of both these phones and samsung will be releasing a phone that is just that. The samsung i900 would be my current top pick for a phone.

You can use a 3G sim in a non 3G phone - I do it all the time.
Fudd
i browse MEA with my SE every day tongue.gif plus take 5mp photos. and makes calls biggrin.gif

3G iphone looks like crud, they are doing the typical apple thing and not finishing what could have been a good product.
BillK
I had reason to belive the release date was sept, but hey i don't know alot.

Yeah, just use 3G sim and away she goes.

But anyone?Contact Transferring?

=P
~Sparkles~
BillK just cause you using a 3G sim doesnt mean you are getting 3G services. You could browse the internet on 2.5G phones its just not the same speed.

If these phones could use 3G then Apple wouldnt be making such a fuss of the new 3G iPhones which arent released yet anywhere globally
BillK
They have to be unlocked to work in australia and tinkered with.
They are going to release them directly to australia soon, meaning they will be functionable since creation.

Please gget your facts right.

If you don't have an iPhone and are making acusations you don't know are true, please refrain.
Fudd
but it still is NOT 3G!!

just cause it's unlocked, and that it's operational does NOT mean it's 3G!
Cide
Komodo and T-Dog have it right! iphone 3G will be released to 22 countries on july 11, hopefully in 70 by the end of the year. so bill, you are not running at 3G as the phone you have doesn't have the capabilities yet, even though the sim card may have. what was it you said about getting your facts right?

and yes, optus and vodafone are the ones bringing it to us here in Aus.
broadz
I heard Telstra wont be bringing iphone in as itunes is the opposition to their own proprietry music downloads: bigpond music.

i find it hard to believe u are getting 3g services on a phone when Telstra dont even have software settings in iphone format to be able to utiilise the 3g/next g network..
T-Dog
The normal iphone doesn't have 3G capabilities. It is 2G running on GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900. You would be using most likely wifi for web browsing.

The good thing about the 3G iphone for consumers in Australia is that it will be sold outright compared to other countries that will only sell the phone on plan so we are lucky in that regard.
BillK
Eh,

Can we please get back on topic?

I have an iPhone, it has internet and WAP etc.
I need contacts from nokia to iPhone..

Anyone?
(THAT IS ACTUALLY GOING TO HELP WITH THE QUESTION?)

Ps, if no one belives me, call or visit a local tesltra dealership

I dont need to, my brother is a manager at one of their mobilenet call centres
BillK
Then he should know?

Or call 125111.

We were ogininaly un-able to set up the internet without the 3g sim card.
Then we aquired one, activated it etc..

Please note people this phone has been unlocked and additional programs put on in dubai
Louie
Id think the only way to do it would be to either save the contacts to your sim card from the nokia, or back them up from the nokia to the computer, and from there import them to the iPhone (if this is possible, I don't know).
BillK
Thankyou for the On-Topic answer louie.

Just went through like 30pages of google.

Seems the only way is to save direct to computer, get some converter, open with out look, then something else.

I'll just get the I.T Lady to help me at work =D

Bill sorry to say but others are right. The iPhone is not real 3G Hence why a new version was announced 2 days ago at WWDC which will go on sale on July 11th across the world.

Just because it is unlocked it does not mean it is 3G. Try putting in a Three sim card. It will not work. What Telstra and Vodaphone are doing is going backward compatible and utilising 2.5g. I still have a Three number as-well so I needed to keep my LG Viewty.

I have been using a iPhone since last year using a Vodaphone 2.5G card smile.gif. To answer your question. There is no "contact transfer" available. You will have to add them manually.

Check MacRumors.com if you want more information. Because it seems it is not the others that need to "get facts right"...

BillK
I know the phone itself isn't 3G.

And yes they backtrack, but.. You are unable to access the 2.5 from a regular testra sim.

Telstra's fault alone i do not know.

But i do know that the iPhone is pretty cool (if you take away there is no picture messaging, no videocamera etc)

did you realise you were wrong finaly and now trying to save face?
