Hi
has any one actually heard these speakers in a car and offer any review on them.

I have a Brax HT1 tweet and the Matrix 3 way X/O so the idea is to either match them with a Brax Graphic pro 6.5 and Matrix 2.1 mid
or
Foacl BE 6" and 3"
or
Brax 6" and HAT 4" mid

Either run passive or active with a RF 3Sixty 2.

Amps are Brax

Any ideas which 6" may be better off axis?

thanks

i would stick with either the Brax gear or go a Brax HAT hybrid.

only part of the Be speakers i have heard were the tweeters, and they were damn nice.

if you really want to use the passive x-over use the one made for that midrange unit...aka the brax driver.

however the 3way from what i can remember is a dome mid, no matter how good people think these are i still prefer a good old 4inch cone midrange unit.

I've only heard the Focal BE 3-ways in a BF Falcon, but these are the only high end speakers I've heard. Very nice but I suppose I was expecting more (for $4600), over my Focal K2P's. smile.gif

Brax are very hard to come by in Australia, plus their price would put a few people off as well I guess. Having said that, since most of your gear is Brax, I'd stick with it rather than mixing it up with Focal.

Definately go active if you use the Focal driver.

The Be components (like the K2Ps) are very nice, but they running them off the brax crossover is pretty much a hit-or-miss affair.

The chance of them matching exactly is pretty slim, and if the TS specs differ enough for the drivers, there is no telling what effects this would have on the crossovers.

As for choosing between the two, I can't speak for the Brax. I've used their amps and they are sheer brilliance but the speakers im not sure. As another person here suggested, I'd go for a good cone midrange over a dome any day of the week, but still I can't give any positive or negative opinion on a speaker I haven't heard.

I have heard the Be components and they are very good. As far as the mids go though, the K2P unit isn't far off. Hard to say whether the Be mids are worth the extra spend.

Given the choice, I'd probably avoid both and use a quality hi-fi driver from Seas/Scanspeak/Peerless but given they aren't amoung your options I won't go any further with that !

Thanks for the replies.
Most likely will stick to Brax.
Muzzy, How do the home speakers go in doors in regard to moisture damaging the cones as most home speakers are not water proofed.? I think HAT have the same problem, depending how you view it!
I have had a look at EJ Jordans, so the thought did cross my mind
The Brax HT1 tweet using the Rainbow cross is way better than the Rainbow tweet CAL 26 I think, much clearer and sounds I hadn't noticed before. Working well blu tacked to the dash!
