I have a problem with my stock car alarm. I have a 1993 camry. The alarm arms but does not sound or make any noise when triggered. But it still flashes and immobilizes the car. Im guessing therefore this has something to do with the connection with the horn?

I've tried to have a look where about the actual alarm is but can't seem to find it. Saying that i have no idea what it will actually look like. I've been told it is under the drivers side dash, near the kick panel. But can't find anything.

If someone has any idea of a solution or experience with this car any advice would be great!

Hi Jase,
under the dash would be a typical place for the alarm unit, but you're probably better off looking for the siren itself, if everything else is ok. If its a simple 2 wire one, you should be able to hook 12V up to it - if it goes off, its probably the wiring somewhere between the module and the siren. If it does nothing, the siren is probably dead.

Just one question though - has it EVER worked? Its also possible there is an option to turn the siren off. If there is toyota forums on the net, it might be worth asking there - someone will no doubt have a camry that could tell you if this is possible or not wink.gif

Alarm module is to the left of the glovebox, about halfway up the dash.

It triggers the horn relay with a negative trigger. If your horn isn't working then the alarm won't either.
