Ok i got a single 12" SPLX Quad 1ohm sub with a 750w RMS and 2000w DB burst rating and plan to get a second one down the track. With 1 i can wire it to 1000w RMS @4 ohm and with 2 i can run them at 1500w RMS @ 2ohm (750 each at there rated power) or 2000w RMS @1ohm (Effective 1000w rms each) was just wondering has anyone ran these at over there rated power or no of anyone who would know etc? As i would think they could handle 250w rms more being a SPL sub but don't wan't to break them. Going from Kicker Comp's to this i can't afford to break them.

Heres the Spec's from SS

We ran the 15" version daily off a Rockford T40001bd that was birthsheeted at 4900wrms. It obviously found the limits of the woofer very fast but none the less it still ran for short periods. I'd say a safe power level would be around 2000 watts.

Ah yeh then i should be right with 1000w biggrin.gif

Thanks for that even though it didn't handle heaps of power did it go loud? Was thinking iff not i might try get a Phoenix Gold Ti12D Elite like one of the other guys just got as they have some nice specs and 4" excursion yum.

My friend did 146dB @ 38Hz with just one in his Pajero 4WD. It took the power but it found the thermal limit in a matter of seconds. They actually have pretty good mechanical power handling with multiple stiff spiders and a strong cone, he fibreglassed the back of his cone to stiffen it. If in a good box I don't see why they wouldn't take a sheet load of power for burps. The one thing I would be wary about is the glue, not that it's too bad. Just not what you'd find on a rock solid woofer like DD or RE. The SPLX is a China woofer.
